Big Announcement at Wimborne Town today. Wimborne Town Football Club is pleased to confirm that agreement has been reached for Lee Merrifield, Martin Higgins & Adam Tovey to acquire a majority stake in the club from current majority shareholders Tony Grant, Graham Bell & Ken Stewart. They will work with MSP Capital Ltd based in Poole. So our nearest & dearest have new owners & possibly new funds available to invest in the team. Of course depends on how much they paid for the shares! Not directly Poole related but certainly indirectly. The club themselves have confirmed that the playing budget will receive an immediate boost, so it's another club on the doorstep with a healthy budget.

Let's hope they don't go Christmas Shopping at Tatnam for any of our players. Our squad is already thin enough as it is.

"Big" Article in the Echo. says that a time of change is coming for PTFC. Says the fans (I praise the intestinal fortitude of those 200 or so souls who, every other Saturday, attend services at Tatnam!!) are frustrated! No kidding!! IF change is to come it will from the faithful who, quite frankly have been taken for granted. Another 34 months of this "club in aspic" stuff and and our attendance will be back to Haskells Rec figures. Seriously are "they' going to ask the fans to put up with this lack of direction(!!) and omerta for nearly three years because at that rate PTFC may have sunk beneath the cold waters of fan apathy by then!

British Airways have been chosen to bring Expat back to Johnson Land! Depending on my flight times and the PTFC fixture list I might be able to squeeze in a game!! After reading "cherrybright" in the Echo letters one wonders if a 77yr old will be safe wandering the streets of the Ancient Borough However some of those pubs near the Quay and Ashley Cross sound tempting but i will be careful!!. none of that "owd Roger" this time out! So that is my "Big Announcement" just in case the Twa Robbies want to meet me at the Turnstile!!@!!!

One more promotion season from the Hammers and they will be in our neck of the woods if we remain static; is that correct?

Promotion is that easy to obtain/ predict is it??? What a ridiculous statement On the other hand we could gain promotion and play Weymouth? Iām serious Expat you really talk some S*** on here at times, I try to ignore most of your drivel as everyone is entitled to an opinion but really yours take the biscuit in my opinion š¤š¤š¤

it certainly is NOT unknown for a team to get promotion in successive seasons. in fact didn't PTFC come fairly close to that not too long ago?? and its a lot better than NOT getting promoted at least twice in succession because of ground issues, and then to hand that promotion place to the dreaded Magpies! ..and still the excuses roll out!

List of association football clubs with successive promotion years. Quite a few from the UK and non league. our friends from Kings Langley being one. 34 months to go unless we get more caveats before that deadline!

I'm with you in the belief we could well be playing Weymouth sometime soon! As for the 34 months nonsense - have faith like the rest of us 'loyal'

If our stay is to be extended, until the new ground is ready, then one thing must happen, which would help the club. That is we must be allowed to open the bar on non matchdays, if the club wants to.

Spot on Dave, the club house needs to be open more often especially with the World Cup coming up. There is no reason why a special licence cannot be applied for, whether we get is another matter.
AS for Expat's comments well they are probably more relevant to Wimborne than us at the moment and I am disappointed that they have been relegated. They provide the only reasonable sized crowd of the season.
The real problem is that the club has progressed in some way in every season since it was saved but this season it has gone backwards on the field. I know we were relegated from the NLS but that was partly as a reaction to the NLS's decision to deny us a place in the play-offs.
It is clear to see and hear why we have regressed, whether at home games or listening to the commentary. In my opinion the best two centre backs are Spetch and Wright and JD is NOT a defender. Of course I have no idea why Jackson was allowed to go but I thought he had settled down and was making few mistakes and if you wanted an "all rounder" that was proven at right back, Corby did it for most of a season and was great.
Tyler Forbes impressed when I saw him but seems to be glued to the bench for some reason. One look at the goal difference shows we would have been in deep trouble had we not had Tony Lee.
Dorchester in 19th place have conceded 9 fewer goals than us. If we concede another 8, that will equal our relegation year from NLS although we only scored 43 that season. Over a season, the league table tells the truth and currently we are 7th in goals scored. We are lucky not to be fighting relegation.
It should (and must) get better next season but only if lessons are learnt.

Think in the 60s Northampton Town went from the fourth to the first division in 4 successive seasons. Or is that just cobblers?!

If you look at the National League, depending how you define the catchment of a football team, Notts County are the only team that has a bigger catchment although they share that with Forrest. If you halve the population of Nottingham, the populations of Poole and Notts County are almost the same. There are also many teams in the Football League and even the Premier League that have smaller populations. Burnley have approx. 82,000, close to half our population. Now size is not everything but it is clear that the Town has the potential. The problem is that you need more than potential. As we have found to our peril, the lack of facilities hold you back. In case anyone is interested, other local Populations are - Weymouth 53,000
- Wimborne 16,000 Estimate
- Dorchester 20,000 Estimate
