Here is Constable’s goal sorry the actual football clip is so short but the celebrations make up for it

And here is Griffin’s from a Corby Moore cross
I’ll try and join my other iPhone clips together when I get home from work tonight.
Rob won the 50/50 and donated £20 to the Merthyr charity as mentioned elsewhere on the forum, and the remaining £58:50 to our player fund.
All in all an excellent evening out.

Hats off to the players for a fantastic result. A tough place to go and get three points, especially midweek. Really, really chuffed with that result. The celebrations should prove to any doubters how much it means to the players!
Secondly, well done to the usual suspects behind the goal for not only making the long trip but for getting behind the boys as well as you did.
A good night for the club, now back it up on Saturday.

Last night we saw a very professional performance from the lads. I will do a full match report later but make no mistake this was a good win against a good side. Jake Smeeton started on the left side of midfield in front of Josh Leslie-Smith and that left hand side looked as solid as it has for some time. Both had their best games for some time and with Luke Roberts and Sam Griffin causing problems all night down the flanks is was great to watch especially as Merthyr also tried to play football the right way.
With results elsewhere going for us, it was a good night. Oh and one more thing. The passion! Where did Beano run when he scored? Straight to the fans and we all celebrated together. I always say that clean sheets win games and the defence deserve credit as the covering was excellent especially when a colleague was out of position.
One final thing, Merthyr were perfect hosts each travelling fan was give a beautifully packaged miniature Single Malt, Welsh Whiskey. More importantly everyone was friendly even after the defeat.

I note on the Forum that Poole train on an artificial pitch and Merthyr have an artificial pitch. Maybe Poole play better on artificial pitches than on grass. Food for thought!!
How many Clubs in our league have an artificial playing surface?

I could be flippant and say too many but I know that at one point we played 5 consequtive away games on artificial pitches. Last night’s pitch played well without the excess rubber marbles that we see on so many, However there was sone damage to the pitch and a patch on one penalty spot,

Thanks John and thanks very much for the clips of the goals Pippa. I must say Constable did well to get the ball in with what looked like a very neat finish. And Griff must have got a lot of pace in his shot to score from that angle with the keeper and a defender in the goal. An excellent night for the Dolphins. Far from 'season over', it's onward to the play-offs!

I never expected to be saying this about this particular fixture BUT I had a wonderful night. Best away game this season for sure. John drove Pippa, Mike and I down there, leaving just before 2 and arriving at about 6:40 after a much diverted trip to avoid the massive hold ups on the Welsh side of the M4. Very picturesque route across the Head of the Valleys road. (Pity it was dark ) We were warmly greeted by the retiring chairman and his lovely wife, both of whom went out of their way to ensure our comfort including home made Welsh cakes to go with our cuppa. The game itself was played under a tremendous spirit and refereed very well although not without its glitches. Although the teams were well matched, I felt we were the stronger team in the goalless first half and definitely took a stranglehold in the second. It's such a joy to see the passion and enthusiasm that Beano brings with his game and his celebration after his goal involved everyone. He came straight to the fans behind the goal (all 5 of us) and all the other players joined in. Griffs hard work was rewarded with a superb goal from a tight angle that beat the keeper on his inside post. It's a bit unfair to single out a couple of players when everyone of the team made their contribution but I must also mention Luke Cairney's antics with the ball at his feet going round defenders, way out of his area. Heart in mouth stuff but also very entertaining. Mark, from the Martyrs supporters club came round to see us and deliver a tot each as promised and everyone we met was friendly and generous in their praise. At half time the 50/50 draw was revealed and I (or maybe Pippa) won £78 so we gave £20 to Mark's Grenfell Towers charity and the rest will go in the players fund. Supper was Pie, chips, peas and gravy and it was excellent. Uneventful trip home despite a desperate hunt for an open filling station around Bath but I went to bed at 1:30 a happy bunny. Thank you Merthyr.
