Of Interest to you all ;
We all know football is all about opinions and in Pitchside’s opinion, it has to be said that Poole Town had an equally excellent month to be proud of.
They played one less game than Gosport but, also only drew one game, against a very strong AFC Totton 1-1 at Tatnam and then won every other game they played in, scoring 16 goals in the process.
The quality of the opposition in those games was perhaps not the toughest in the Wessex League but nevertheless the Dolphins finished them all off, comfortably to boot.
The month began with a 4-1 drubbing of BAT Sports at Tatnam. The Totton game was next and then two games against Alton, 3-1 away and 3-0 at home was followed by a Taffy Richardson hat-trick 3-0 win over Bemerton at home.
They finished the month off with a 2-1 win over a gutsy Gillingham side in the Dorset Senior Cup to reach their second final in three seasons.
The cup win against Gillingham was also achieved after Ollie Cherrett had been red-carded when the game was still delicately poised at 1-1.
How can you pick which manager deserves the accolade? As stated earlier it is without doubt the tightest decision yet but they can’t share it, so the cup win in Pitchside’s view sways the decision in the Dolphins direction.
Therefore the Pitchside Manager of the Month for February 2006 goes to Poole Town’s Tommy Killick.
As for the Player of the Month award, in the opening game of the month 17-year-old Chivers, who has enormous potential scored a ‘perfect’ hat-trick. One with his right foot, one with his left and a header, in their 4-1 win.
He went on to score another two in the month, including one in the Dorset Senior Cup win, making it five goals in the five games he played (he was injured for the other game).
Chivers is clearly a real talent and for what must be his best month of the season so far for the Dolphins, Pitchside would like to award him as the Player of the Month for February 2006. Well done to both Killick and Chivers.

This from Pitchside re' Manager of the Month award ;
Pitchside holds it’s hands up and would like to announce that for the first time in it’s three year history, the Manager of the Month award for February 2006 will be shared.
A number of people have complained about the award going to Tommy Killick, manager of Poole Town.
It was such a tight decision to call between Killick and his former manager at Wimborne a number of years ago, Alex Pike, now at Gosport Borough.
Pike, it has to be said has done a fantastic job at Gosport since taking over from John Robson and in February the club played seven games, won six and drew the other one 0-0 at Wimborne Town.
Of the seven matches, six were away from home and they achieved four clean sheets as well. A month to be very proud of.
As already explained on the site however, Poole Town also enjoyed an excellent month, winning five of their six matches and getting through to the Dorset Senior Cup final in the process.
The Pitchside awards are sponsored by Wessex Trophies and they have very kindly agreed to provide two trophies for the Manager of the Month for February 2006, given that both Pike and Killick fully deserve the award.
Pitchside would like to thank the constructive criticism aimed at the site for the original choice and will now go and eat some humble pie!
Still well done to Tom and the lads.
