A disapointing performance tonight with Poole going down 4-0. Missng were Boris,Taffy,Cherrett,Hayfield and Paul Manning all of which didn't help but Poole were their own worst enemies at times giving the ball away. Frustration crept in seeing three Poole players booked.
The biggest plus on the night however was Carl Chivers who looked very comfortable when coming on. I think that Carl has immense potential and could well have an important role to play this season.
Also well done to my brother who played an hour for the reserves tonight in their 4-0 win so do the right thing KJ!!!!!!!!

Are you sure that Carl will play a part tho. he is only 16 and hasnt scored yet. With Anthony Warrington out injured surely he is only a 'replacement' for him? With the reserves doing so well last night aswell, might he be left out in the cold??

Why do all think we will have 16-17 year olds in the 1st team how silly are you.
This season will be about old school with the boss playing his old mates in the team

I don't think anyone expects us to have a team of 16-17 year olds however I think that if some of them are talented enough then getting them involved with the first team has to be beneficial.
As for Carl then yes PTFC fan it's true he hasn't scored yet and we have not seen Warrington. Carl has however been getting into scoring positions and has looked just has dangerous as anyone else who has played upfront so far.

I think Carl Chivers has superb potential, but perhaps not as a target man as used in the first half against Weymouth. He has consistently shown some brilliant touches and skill, but obviously at such a young age may not be a regular player in the first team. However he is going to excite the fans and cause Wessex league opposition loads of problems if he gets the chance.

thank you all for saying nice things about young Carl Chivers, Carl is just one of many rising stars that i have brought to the club.....many have said that he reminds them of Michael Owen when he first exploded on to the scene...at Liverpool
Carl is not the only player that has potential young Dave Sturgess(16) has been outstanding in the reserves and has scored a couple of goals his confidence is high....Paul Baystone(16) has been playing centre half for the reserves and has shown great vision and pace....Chris Snell(16) strong Midfield/striker....there are more but at the moment these stand out......
During my friedlies i have fielded some 8-9 16 year olds in the starting line up and these youngsters play quality football and sides cant handle their technical abilities...im not interested in the results at the moment...my concern is mistakes and how we put them right...giving the boys the confidence to keep thir heads up and play football...
again thanks for your comments.......it is much appreciated by me and the youngsters
