Just been told that the 1st team lost at Alresford yesterday, what on earth happened there. They didnt look a particularly good team when we lost there last year, maybe we find it hard to cope with their direct style of play? Would be interested to hear the thoughts of those who went yesterday.

Well my Valiums kicked in, and the red mist had lifted so here goes. I thought long and hard about coming on here, or just leaving it. But this place gets in your blood and is very easy to take to heart. Yes I’ve only been watching this season, so tell me to naff off if that’s how you feel - after all football is a game of emotion and passion, and we all has our own opinions. We beat ourselves on Saturday. Tommy picked a side that should have won the game by the proverbial mile. He picked the best side available to him, but he can’t cross the whitewash them. However, all the ability in the world counts for nowt if attitude and application in key areas is lacking. A team is only as strong as all its individual units. If any part of that unit thinks “I don’t want to be here”, “I’m too good for this” or “We only have to turn up to win” you stand a good chance of getting beat! An Aylesford guy approached me after the game and we got chatting. He told me they had 7 ? first choices out and a third choice “emergencies only” keeper who is usually an outfield player. This must tell you something. We should have had far too much for them, which on paper and technically we did. However, you can bet your life those 8 players raised their game at least 10% to grab their chance. I honestly believe on Saturday, we beat ourselves. Please take this as a well-intentioned , constructive view. After all we all want the best for the team and club as a whole. Go out on Wednesday lads and show what a good side is in the making here. You can, should and will achieve things – want it and pull together in the same direction. Do I post this Oh well, just take it as it’s intended.

Hello Mate (Don't like to call u Fat Boy). Totally agree with you 100% about survival. But you can still progress in cup competitons. PTFC will not get relegated this year (in fact they could still finish in a very healthy position), and become a force in Wessex 1 next year. I just don't think it is a drain on the squad, and the resources of the club to go after one of the cups on offer. This game was there for the taking. Look at the 2nd half against Bideford, superb effort and a grand ( I think) on offer for the club. There is no need to think"We'll toss this cup in order to make sure we survive in Div '1" and I'm sure no one is thinking that for one minute. PTFC would love to win one of the trophies on offer. No, survival and a nice cup run is ideal. Roll on Wednesday. (nice to read your reply)

Thanks for your reply Tony pro haps it would have been a better idea to have rested some of our first team players and played the youngsters who might have had more appetite for this cup

I just feel that from the off it was evident that, for whatever reason, a couple of players were at odds with themselves and those around them. There seemed to be too much in fighting and chewing each other off. The opposition picked up on this, thought they had us rattled and were encouraged by this. So it was not a physical effort thing, more mental. Still it's gone now. Let's put it right against Fawley.

chivers bayston and bartlett were all playing for the county.the players were embarrassed and very apologetic after the game they know they let themselves and the supporters down badly.we wanted the win-it would have been great to have got a run going.I still feel totally gutted andI know Tom feels worse! The big thing is how the team responds and I for one cannot wait for the next game-we need to get it out of our system! we have a good bunch of committed players who don't deliberately play below their best.the club also has great ambition-stick with us we will deliver!!

In reply to the guy who asked about gary playing so deep, who would you have played there? We know TK is looking for a natural LB, but from those available gary was proabley the best option what with Gary Bartlett injured and Bayston away on County duty! (both are not natural LBs but have done well when called upon)We have an abundance of good midfielders, who whilst maynot have the flair Garry has but should have enough in the locker to have beaten Arlesford but only Garry can play LB out of them. If they (midfield) don't perform on the day TK can not do anything about it once they cross the white line. my view Spalds is the other option, but I doubt TK wants to split Luke or him up, by the way I think Luke has been a revelation in there this season well done. lets put it right Wed.
