What happened to the pre season talk of League winning ambitions. What can I say? - Awesome strike force, but so far the defence seems a little suspect. Cut out the nightlife and boozing boys, all the crowd know you can do better. Stick to the orange juice and cut out the grog!!!!

Is this a wind up - I am totally bemused, and somewhat depressed reading Chets' posting. Keep plugging away guys, first season up was always going to be a challenge. No.......it must be a joke !!!!!!!

on and off the field the club is making great strides forward.it is run by committed people the odd bad performance will not change any aims or blunt any ambition on the field the aim will always be to build a good side on a solid basis--it certainly cant just be bought off the field the club is trying veryhard to progress its plans for better facilities-a huge task it may not happen quite as quickly or quite as spectacularly as some might wish but it will happen--it is already well underway we must have confidence and patience--remember haskell's rec!!!!!!

Nice to read Poolite. Being a "newcomer" this season, it soon became obvious that this is a "real" football club run by passionate football people for passionate football people. People who all care deeply for the club, and have its best interest at heart. This applies not only to the players, but a very dedicated manager / team working behind the scenes and of course it’s loyal supporters. This club has a great future, but this will be achieved step by step - that process having already started. O.K. we've lost a few games this season, and this comes hard to supporters who have become used to winning most weeks. But Wessex 1 was always going to be tough. I have watched Wessex 1 for a couple of years now, believe me, for a first season side this lot will be O.K. What other side (and I include ALL sides in this league) can suffer the injuries that Poole have particularly in one area of the team and carry on unaffected in such difficult circumstances. The lads have done superbly well to come to terms with this particular issue. Given time PTFC will be a very good Wessex 1 side, then push on to the next level - but this takes time and patience. This year may be one simply to consolidate (be nice to nick a trophy though !). Of course everyone involved wants success now, and of course the is some “tweaking” to be done. However, the nucleus is there, and it will happen. Sorry if I seem to have a lot to say for a “Newcomer” but I feel strongly about this side, and where it is capable of going. Keep going PTFC, 100% and you will do the club proud.

Tony W,
Thanks for your comments and I'd agree with you absolutely 100%. Poolite too is spot on I think. And yes - whenever we lose I also think of Haskells Rec! It is quite unbelievable just how far this club has come in the last 4-5 years. It really is a testament to everyone involved with the club.
Of course we are always disappointed when we don't win and we are going to have to get used to that more now than we have for a long time. However, I personally get far more enjoyment from watching the boys now at this higher level of football (and yes - losing too) than I ever did watching some of the mis-matches we have had in recent years.
I guess we will always get postings moaning about selections etc whenever we lose - that's part of having something like this messageboard I guess.
And Tony W, please don't apologise for having a lot to say - keep it coming!! Good to have a 'newcomer' on board. It's the future of the club and that's a good thing.
Please give the lads a cheer from me tonight - I can't make game as babysitting - kids eh???!!!

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your comments, much appreciated.
I think last nights game highlighted a couple of points.
By and large you get punished for errors in this league. We seem to be getting punished for EVERY error at the moment - which is costing us games in which we may otherwise be landing at least at point.
A 2-3 defeat to Andover (who are meant to be one of this leagues stronger outfits) shows we are close, but not there yet. I think all would admit PTFC are 2 / 3 players short of turning this type of game into a win and 3 points. Again, I'm sure Tommy and his team know this, and will continue to build as the season progresses.
By the way, superb site - keep up the great work.

Tony I don't disagree at all--one good thing ,however, is that we have Gary Funnell, Darren Crook and Leigh Phillips to come back into last nights squad.Gary will be back on saturday and Leigh and Darren the game after
