Isn't it time to get fans favourite Carl Woodward back from the Brock wilderness...particularly with the Kempy connection. A natural left footer will give us the all important balance even though its acknowledged that Whiter has filled the breach well so far.

Why start arguing about the team again when they have done so well in the last match. Since matty white played left back, he has done very well and we have kept 2 clean sheets.
Just concentrate on getting behind the team and showing your support to tommy and the lads, and Im sure they wont let us down.

you sign your self as all time poole fan, I find this hard to imagine going by some of your comments. Carl Woodward left Poole, his choice, and Brock arn`t doing so well are they.Lets face it ,if Poole won 5-0 one or two "FANS" will still moan that it should have been 6 or7 .Its a shame that after such a great game you still manage to pick holes. If you think your ideas are so good why not sign your name, not fan or guest, or go watch another club.PS please learn to spell.

Blimey...there was me thinking Carl was a popular player with the fans. What short memories ! Not quite the Coombes era (good age, experience & pace) & haven't we just signed someone else considerably older who chose to leave Poole around the same time. Didn't hear any complaints there.

Yes all the fans liked Carl, I dont think any of them would complain if carl came back, although he was out of form when he left.
However I think people are just getting fed up of everybody trying to pick the team for Tommy every week, especially after a good win at Fareham. We all have our favourite players, and our own idea on who should be picked, but the most important thing is that the team play well and pick up a few wins.

if you want a left back you should scout Canford Heath Adastral on a sunday moring they have a versatile left footer and a very clever player called Dan Proctor and he is worth a look at.

Do me a favor, Sunday morning on Canford Heath is a bit different from Wessex 1.

Yeah i know it is but how are you going to know if he is

Post by Guest on Sept 9, 2005 12:09:37 GMT
yeah but how do you know if he is not wessex standard if they don't look at him personally i believe he can play at that level
& scouting is about looking at players in lower leagues or are unheard of a seeing if they have the potential to make it at the standard you require
& plus you can also pick a few jems out of sunday league if they are looked at properly

Whats wrong with keeping Matty White at left back? He's been solid there the last two games.
Why are we always looking to get new players, when we already have a quality squad of 25 players, and a young reserve team all pushing for a first team spot.

i think you will find carl played most of his games as wing back, a bit tricky when playing 4,4,2 as for balance on the left i thought Ryan played well.where is the problem? players must wonder what they have to do to please some of you.Great win lads ,keep it going.

Certainly could have done with a left back on Saturday, one guy from Winchester was telling me that they had scouted Poole and were deliberately playing the ball down that side of the pitch. For the entire 1st half, their no.7 tore into us.
Is Marc Jackson injured since he played last Saturday, or is he just not being picked again?

How long is Spalds suspended? Im sure he will slot back into the left back position when he returns.

why are we still going on about the left back spot. two goals came from penalties and one from the right.Apart from Taff nobody infront of the back line seemed to want the ball. One goal in three games?. personally i thought the left back worked his socks off for someone who dos`nt want to play there, and when winchester came to watch poole {moneyfields game} he was on the bench. Lets start scoring and give the defence a break.

Just to confirm Marc is injured he suffered a small bleed in his thigh which dick has been keeping an eye and treating.
This is a serious injury if not treated properly, it could lead to compartment syndrome, this is were the muscle bleeds internally, swells and blocks all blood flow to the lower leg.
Tony Coton of Man city had this and he nearly lost his leg, after being sent home after a game. He was in terrible pain and his thigh just kept swelling.
Marc should be back soon. Besides i think TK has this position under control. Dont panic.

I have heard about a good young left back at christchurch he has been unable to break into there 1st team regulary, and has been playing reserve and under 18's football maybe he is worth a look at?!

There is a good (Wessex League level) left sided defender who played in the same side as Luke at Christchurch, who may not be figuring under Andy Leader. Solid defender who always gave 100%, may be worth asking after. Won't mention name, but ask Luke Tommy.

It would be nice to have a natural left back as I do think it has been a problem area at times this season. Absolutely not a criticism of the players that have played there who have all given 110% but I think it is much easier to play there if you are naturally left footed.
And Tony I think I know the player you mean and he would be an excellent addition.

Hi Guest, No, not Neil. Anyway, the player I meant apparently does figure in Andys plans, and works for one of the crew over there - so a dead end I suspect ! Cheers, Tony W.

Tony, who is the left back you mean??

Hi Adrian, Perhaps it's me, but I do not think it politic to discuss another clubs player whilst he is still playing for them. Anyhow, this is a non-starter. It was a player who I thought was not playing on a regular basis under Andy Leader, who is as we know new to the club in question and as often happen players who were a fixture under a previous manager may not suit the incoming regime. However, it seems this guy is playing. My error, in thinking a good left back may be available - it appears he is not. Thought I could help but got my facts wrong - sorry. Strong result on Staurday. I think a few people in this league will now be taking notice of PTFCs progress. It was always going to take time, and there is still a way to go - but the signs are good. Here's to continued progress throughout the rest of the season. Cheers, Tony W.

Whilst you are on the subjest of defenders. Whats happened to Ollie Cherrett?

In the matchday programme yesterday it said that Ollie Cherrett is recovering from his serious knee injury from start of season.
It is hoped that he will be back training this coming week and perhaps back to full fitness in a month's time.
Let's hope so - will be good to see Ollie back in a Poole shirt.
