Fair and accurate comments from the Bay fans. Glad you all enjoyed the weekend (bar the travelling!!). Great to be making friends with yet another club on our Vase journeys and no, I'm sure nobody thinks bad of Bay fans becasue of one guy. The fact that so many of you have already spoken out is testament to that!
Looking forward to coming up next week (couldn't make it last year) and win, lose or draw Im sure it too will be a great weekend. That's what it's all about ............ (well, and winning!)

To be honest a lesser team than the Bay would have folded under the onslaught but even though some of your defence look out on their feet, they kept going.
Apart from the offside goal (well I didn't see it but some of our lads were convinced), the other two strikes were from the very top drawer.
About the rogue "fan"? Don't worry, when these big games are played there are always some who don't normally come and don't know how to behave. In every town or village all over the country there are there are 100's of idiots and there can be only one village idiot.

Thanks John, was behind the goal, so could not see if it was offside or not, may have been close.
As for the second, it was almost identical to one Kerr had scored in mid week
I was in line, and apart from the pace of it, the curve on the ball was amazing
Having said that, he had sent a similar one in that the keeper got to on the first bounce, with Chow being a few inches away from Should be an exciting game at the Bay

We are not so refined in the North
No 'Venceremos', or Spanish except on the Salsa Dance floor No 'We will overcome', in whatever language
More like 'Wuu Ganna Win'
and I am pleased to say, no kids arrested for picking daffidils up here .... yet

i was behind the bay goal in the second half.. i must say your keeper took a lot of banter with a smile on his face. a credit to your side!!
i will say one thing though, the first goal. the 'accidental' hand ball... i thought the referee made a few mistakes but this was key.. i fully understand it was not intentional but it gave him a clear advantage as it played the ball directly into his path and left the poole player stranded..you scored form it.
i dont wan to come across as making excuses..im really not here, but that was hard to take

I understand how you feel Hampton, that is why i referred to the accidental hand ball, it was a case of ball to hand and not the reverse, but it fell and gave a clear advantage
I would have been upset if it had been against us, and yes it was pivotal, it changed the game Having said that, from where I was , it looked like a clear elbow from your no 6, 'Taffy ' I think he is called that floored our defender, several other people also thought it could have beeen a sending off offence, but hey, the ref was better placed
You have a hard task, you have the team, you have the skill, but there is one factor that you cannot cope with Arguably the reason we have come back from the dead so many times I don't know if you noticed the whole Whitley team go over to a young man in a wheelchair-or heard the Bay fans shouting his name. It was Tayls, a bright young full back, and member of the Vase winning team two years ago, several months after thathe was struck down with the most aggressive form of motor neurine disease. The fans have taken him to our hearts, it has been heartening how the whole Northern League have rallied round with fund raising Last year the team said they would win it for Tayls . They did, Six: one
This year again the fans and the team want to win it again for 'Tayls' He is our strength, our 12th man
You have a real uphill struggle, you see
the fans and the players will never give up

we will see what happens on saturday GODFATHER...your team got lucky at the end...end of. we played you off the park for VERY long periods it was like watchin barca (us) and middlesborough (you)! you say our number six floored one of your players...your whole back four were using the same bully boy tactics especially your non mobile number 5(we shall call him JOHN WEST) we see week in week out her at the tatnam. we will come there and give you a game you wont forget and if i know our team you will be going home without a wembley ticket whilst we celebrate. i hope you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your kind comments about our side. good luck next week you will need it!!!

As I have said several times on this forum and also the Bays forum, we deserved absolutely now you outplayed us for virtually the whole game We were shocking, you controlled the midfield, the wings, were faster, quicker to the ball, played the better football, all we could do was resort to the long ball which your defenders gobbled up I was embarrassed to take the victory...... but this mornings paper still says 2 :1 If we are as bad as that again this week, there is no way we can be as lucky again but some how I cannot see us being so ineffectual Time will tell but some how, I think

Come on Poole Town , from where I was standing you have nothing to fear from the Northener's and especially 'The Chow' (looked a bit of a donkey !) go win it away !! Very disrespectful to label him a donkey, in my opinion.

This is whitley bays fourth consecutive vase semi final. You cannot play like a pub team and do that. I therefore presume they were not at their best on saturday. Will see what saturday brings but I will be suprised if they do not play better than they did on saturday.

Unfortunately not steve i coach kids football on saturday steve...therefore making most away games is problematic. Most home games i am there and i also go to watch the reserves so i would say thats pretty loyal.

It is one of the problems with this 'ere interweb. When I first read your post Steve, my reaction was the same as Parky. Having read it again, I see that it was my interpretation that was wrong.
So Steve and Ben, keep up the good work.

Very disrespectful to label him a donkey, in my opinion. You're right, he's a total donkey.................. Fair play to Poole today though, first 30 mins were nervy from us, but I felt 2nd half only Bay in it. Best of luck for the season.

Aaaah, my word who can believe that it's just over 10 years since this historic game Mandy & I were very fortunate to attend at Whitley Bay along with many others on this fantastic forum and indeed the club. Such happy (ish) memories of our trip North with the team and experiencing a police escort to the ground as the traffic was horrendous!!
Anyone else remember the chap who throughout the 2nd half bleated: 'Howay the bay, Whitley bay' non stop for 45mins+!!
Anyone else care to share their memories of this historic occasion...

None whatsoever because I had to go on a protest march in London in my capacity as a union rep. I didn't even have a smart phone in those days so I didn't get to find the score till I got home about 9.35pm approx and my mother and brother said 'poor old Poole!'. I had also missed the quarter final because I was on holiday at the time.

I can remember catching the coach at 6am on Palmer Rd. I think we arrived about 2.30 and I think the police escort was to make sure we found the ground. Most noticeable feature of the ground was that building with a big sloping roof, was it a sports centre?.We were told to all be back on the coach by ten past five, and on the trip home I imagined we were halfway home when I spotted a sign that said "York 50 miles". That was a long day out.
