As I read the result at Lymington I could not help but check the results of the FA Cup 1st round. I think it reminds us just how far Poole football has fallen,I mean given the present set up does anyone see a Poole team in the 1st round proper in the next decade. Unfortunately I am old enought to remember the great display a Town team put up at Watford back in the 60s Until we get a team playing back at the Stadium and without the present split that will prevent any Poole team making it into the higher levels of non league football we are on a hiding to nothing. I still cannot beleive that an affluent urban area with the population that Poole has is content with football played at level six or seven of the the non league tier system. I am not moaning abouth the present management but I am dismayed that there does not appear to be a coherent plan to lift Poole football out of the depths UP THE TOWN!!!!

Although you're spot on and the current situation is indeed ridiculous what the club needs most is money. Good players are willing to play at a slightly lower level if there's some financial inducement to do so. As things currently stand why should the name Poole Town mean anything more to a young gifted local player than Borough, Cobham, Ham United, the Poppies, etc? Even the crowds are no longer that special and the ground certainly isn't. A highish profile local figure with a bit of money and the right connections to get others involved could/should see the Town do a Winchester City and start moving. Until then returning to the Poole Stadium and playing Conference South level at least will be just a pipe dream.
