All credit to the players today ( Hambles also) for turning out a performance of sorts. It wasn't the greatest of games but then I didn't have to try and balance on one leg on a cold bobbly surface while trying to kick a ball. I feel slepe and a few others are right when they say extreme conditions have a hand in leveling things out on the pitch, it certainly looked that way today. It was good to see Browner get on the score sheet with two goals, I thought his control considering the conditions was excellent, and he took his second goal very well. Also good to see Carl Poore look back to fitness with some runs and a long range rising shot. Jase pulled off a fine stop at 0-0 to keep us level. Great to see Culli back too, showing energy to keep up with breakaway play to position himself well to break the deadlock and net the first. Young Jordan got himself a few minutes to impress and nearly scored with run and shot that went just beyond the far post. Well Done Lads!!

I felt that it was a game of 2 halves (to coin a phrase!). In the first half Poole struggled to get going with some poor passing. To be fair Hamble played well and deserve to be higher up the league that they are on this performance. It was great to see Carl Poore back again - he was fantastic and I felt kept us in the game in the first half, both defending well and making great runs down the right.
Come the second half Poole seemed sharper. However it took an excellent save from Jason to stop us going behind. Skelts played an excellent through ball to Browner who set up Culli for the first. I felt Browners struggled in the first half but came alive in the few minutes before he was subbed - heading the second before hitting a fantastic strike for the third.
Both sides could have had more - Smithy missed a sitter in the first half & Fisk had a great opportunity a the end (which would have been great to have got in for his confidence). Hamble could easily have had a couple.
Great that the game was on and we bagged another 3 points.
Well done lads.

I was wondering where our first goal was going to come from, then on came Culli.
Of course a lot of good play preceded it.
I thought today demonstrated how important a good target man, who can hold up, shield the ball and link the play is to our team.

All credit to the players, the surface was very difficult to play on, very bobbly, you could tell that just by walking around the sidelines. So I think a 3-0 result against a very spirited Hamble side who do have some good players of their own(no8) was a creditable performance. Most importantly 3 points

Agree with you on their number 8, he looked a capable player. When we walked around the pitch we had an idea of how difficult the surface was, plus the temp started to drop in the second half. Let's hope this cold spell buggers off soon otherwise we'll be playing in June ;D

;D ;D interesting look at the Southern league(S and W). Two of our old rivals, Andover and Winchester propping up the league while Totton are at least in play off contention. The off season should be interesting this year. Signing off now to go to the Junior A Ice Hockey, our local team the Oakville Blades are second in the league, its a great fast game, all players under 21 and so they give it their all, crowds `vary 200-700, more for the end of season playoffs!!

I'm afraid my view was not as charitable as the other postings. I agree that the conditions were not good but Carl Poore showed that football could be played. He was my man of the match by a country mile. This was a top v bottom match against a team that have only scored 12 goals all season and conceded 72! At times I found it difficult to differentiate between the two teams league positions. Hamble were allowed to play their football and grew in confidence as the the game continued. I felt that they had a huge slice of bad luck when Browner was not given off-side for our first goal - the 'stand-in linesman' did an admirable job but was not up with play at that point. I was in line and checked with the Poole supporter next to me who agreed. This seemed to break Hambles spirit. The fact remains that it is important to keep picking up 3 points when we're not playing well........we picked up 3 points! COYD

Good point about Carl Poore, Mike. Having Carl back is like a new signing and along with Culli will be valuable additions to the squad.

Sounds like we ground out a result again. And we had no major injuries. Having Carl back and Culli resigning seems to have helped. How much did we miss Charlie?

Interesting game, which I really enjoyed. Lamin is the unspoken hero of the first 68 (and the rest) minutes with some really stout defending and good balls forward. I was impressed with the left wing forward runs of Taffy and others indicating space and passing options which had good results. Hamble certainly matched for the first 68 and could well have won the game but there was a level that soon appeared where they lost their shape and appeared to have some injuries. Must say it was a fair game al lround and no player really seemed to be trying it on or doing dangerous challenges. This for me made it a good game of football all round and reminded me of some great old 1st Division games, Coventry/Burnley come to mind.
As a Wimborne follower I was well entertained. I was pleased to have the opportunity to see what all the talk was about, I saw and was entertained. Looking forward to the Cup game and do we have a date for the one postponed last week yet?

A generous assessment towncrier. Thanks. Thanks for the reports lads but I must say, whilst I agree it's another 3 points in the bag and still unbeaten after 23 matches ..., I'm a bit fed up with the idea of 'grinding out victories'. That's why I'm feeling realy confident about next Tuesday and thereafter. We really are due a big win on a decent surface with all the boys playing well for the whole game. Now for my forecast ....

Winning games when we're not playing well is the key to winning the league. No doubt someone will be in for a thrashing soon but we may have to wait until the pitches improve in the spring. Nice to see Culli back and good to see Browner grab a couple of goals

Worth noting that Hamble won 1-0 at Cowes Sports tonight (Tuesday). Don't think they are going to finish bottom on this form!
