Bittons average attendance so far this season is 90. From what I've heard on the forum Dolphins will outnumber them easily........not to mention, El Flago ( like that term). Wish I could be there..............please shout for slepe, loudly

Bitton Vilaage has a population of about 1,400 and about 9,000 within the stated parish of Bitton. They still can support a team that is currently top of the Western league!

Thanks for that dave2, we can't forget that we are the second largest conurbation without a professional league team. Also, there are plenty of good small town and village sides in our league and other Step 5 leagues. Many of these used to be in county leagues. We are still a long, long way from the Southern League days when we wer just below Football Laegue status. Roll on two or three promotions eh?

Along similar lines, if Leeds beat Northampton Town in the FA Cup replay they travel to Histon of the conference national. Not too many years ago Histon were just a village side while Leeds Utd were in the Champions league - How fortunes change.

Lets hope the boys continue to do well and we can get back up to that status again.

After Frome, Willand, etc, don't think we can take them lightly. Sorry I can't make it though. It's now time to look forward, look at what Rushden have achieved, albeit with Doc Martens money, think we'll have a fun journey up though.

Right enough sterte. Many a team has risen and fallen with a rich sponsor who has later gone away, for example Barry and Gretna. Better to have a sound financial basis with some permanency. And right again - it is fun on the way up.
Wise words slepe - as always!

Hull are lucky as they've benefitted from the Kingston Communications sell off, far sighted council up there, so I don't think we can use them as a guide. Charlton is the way to go i think, very community based. Sadly they've gambled a bit too much recently. Argyle copied their method, building slowly from the bottom.

Lucky indeed sterte. Lucky that Hull retained the telephones in the city. I lived in Hull for a while many years ago so I'm quite fond of the tigers. It used to be a quiz question:- what is the largest city in England never to have a top division football team? Answer (used to be) Hull. Not any more!

Sadly, that old favourite of a pub question now has the answer- Plymouth. And unless the board there ( one reason i finally gave up going to Home Park) stop pocketing 000,000s they will be the answer for a long time. Still well run though, just sad there's no ambition. That's Plymouth as a city in general though and why I joined up and now live in Poole.
