I lived in Hull for a few years in the 1960s. It's a great city with great people. I love it. It's also the biggest town in England never to have had a top flight football team. That is about to change. Up the Tigers!!!

I'd like to see Hull make it. I went to their old Boothferry park ground a few times and it was obvious with the old run down stadium they were struggling, infact I'm sure the financial situation got so bad that the gates were locked in recent years before they moved. Their ground was unique in that it had it's own railway station. Now though the new stadium seems to have woken up the sleeping giant and given the place a lift. Another team I'd like to see promoted is Rochdale, in the league 2 play off final. A team thats shy of success, it would be good to see them win something and their loyal fans rewarded for once.

Can you believe this neutral1 - I used to live in Rochdale too so I have an affection for 'The Dale' as well? You're right about the railway station. You could get boozed up in the city centre in those days and still hop on a train straight to the ground. Do you remeber Wagstaffe? Hull was also unique in that it had its own telephone system for many years and it was the sale of that that helped fund the new stadium. The KC in KC Stadium stands for 'Kingston Communicatopns'. And then, of course, the bridge acroos the River Humber was built so Hull was no longer "a city 30 miles up a rialway siding"! Good luck to 'the Tigers' and 'The Dale'!

Youve moved about a bit Brian, You haven't got a woman chasing you ? ;D I was listening to a Rochdale supporter on radio 606, from what I can make out they have been working hard with the local youngsters, sounds like it's probably worked out for them. I remember Wagstaffe at Hull, I think he figured on one of the bubble gum cards when I was a kid. I saw History made at Hull's Boothferry park when Steve Lowndes scored from the penalty spot to make Millwall Champions of the old second division and win promotion to the old first division back in the late 80's.

Those were the days neutral1!!!!
I had a spell in Manchester too. That was okay except the local football fans tend to be a bit boring. Morecambe is better.

Those were the days neutral1!!!! The days when players didn't go down so easy, It was the only thing that irritated me in the champions league final, the way a player went down like they were shot after a challenge. Something you hardly see in non league.
