Yes back to winning ways but to be honest we are still not back to our best, due mainly I feel to a change in personnel through injuries etc. I shudder to think how many we would have scored if we had netted the first four chances in the opening five minutes ;D
In came Matt Holmes, son of Salisbury manager and ex-Saints player Nick Holmes, also back in the starting line up were Stuart Brown and Steve Smith. Whilst Ben Osborne and Culli [recovering from a broken nose] started on the bench. Out also was Skelton.
The Dolphins started well and should have had the game sown up in the first 5 minutes with at least 4 good chances, one of which was started by "Gilly", who went on a good run on the right and crossed to Steve Smith, only for Stevo to hit a whistling shot past the post. Gilly was skinning them down the right in the first few minutes, and had we exploited this side more, dividends could have been paid. Unfortunately Romsey had the first real chance to score when they were awarded a penalty in the 11th minute but Harvell pulled off a great save to keep the honours even. Poole seemed to take their foot off the pedal for a while and allowed Romsey to stifle them, although on 25 Min's Dan Cann had a chance to get Poole off the mark, but from 25 yards he rifled a shot just wide of the keepers left post. Then on 39 minutes a foul on Trefor some 30 yards out on the right, which gave him a bloody nose and time off the pitch, earned Poole a Free kick. Cann took the Free kick and delivered an excellent ball to the far post where "Browner" put the dolphins in front with a close range header. With our noses in front and half time looming Poole lost their concentration and allowed Romsey to equalise when their striker raced onto a through ball and netted beyond the dive of Harvell H/T 1-1
Poole started the second half much the same as the first with some strong running by Gilly, chasing a lost cause and earning the Dolphins a corner, from the resulting corner Gilly scored amongst a group of players in the penalty area, 1-2. On 69 Min's more Good work from Gilly who lost the ball then won it back and crossed, found Richardson standing at the back post, who unselfishly headed the ball back across goal for Steve Smith to rifle the ball home from close range 1-3. Culli was brought on in place of Holmes and Poole were now making Romsey look static with their passing of the ball, and on 72 Min's a good run by Culli to the bye line saw him cross the ball, this time Browner was on hand to bury the ball in the back of the net and take the score to 1-4. TK made a double substitution with Ayres on for Browner and Hogan on for Cann.
As often happens, Poole lost their concentration and Romsey had a spell of pressure themselves first with Big Jase pulling off a great save from a rocket shot and then a couple of clearances from Whitley and Rico. Hogan had a good run into the opposing penalty box halted before Romsey pulled a goal back on the 87th minute to make the score 2-4. In the last few minutes young sub Shane Ayres put in solid tackle and went on a strong run on the left hand side of the Romsey penalty area, he pulled the ball back across goal for Hogan, running in like an express train to drill his shot low past the keeper for Pooles fifth, 2-5. Final Score 2-5 My man of the match was Kevin Gill who's constant running and never say die attitude was a good lesson for our youngsters. Well done lads, now lets get our home form back on track starting this Tuesday v Hamble.

yes, thank you neutral1 for your reports, gives me a break from shoveling snow!!. It sounds as if our squad is strengthening despite the changes and injuries.Perhaps we are over our "purple patch" and can make a strong end of season run. Incidentally what a great result for Barnsley. I bet their team only cost a a fraction of Liverpool which proves that on the day it's 11 vs 11 which PTFC can take heart from when we play Wimborne and Totton UP THE TOWN

No worries chaps, I was particularly impressed with Gill, his fitness is good and I feel if we can get a settled side then who knows what can happen. Poole dominated the opening exchanges but took their foot off the pedal and you could see Romsey grow in confidence, I remember the same scenario against Hamble and Bemerton away when we allowed both sides back into the game. From watching I get the feeling that when we are not attacking we don't stay tight enough to the opposition and consequently we allow them too much space to play their game. Well done to TK and the lads. It's good to have another 3 points in the bag.
