V Brockenhurst. With the end of the season coming up and Poole second in the attendance table behind Wimborne it would be good to see if we can improve on our 'Attendance average'. We are just over 31% up on last years average attendance and are hovering just below 200 per game, Wimborne are averaging 221. So far this season we have the Highest gate of 430 [versus Totton] so With the fine weather continuing into the week it will be cool if we can get a decent crowd to try to push our average past the 200 mark. And of course the prospect of three vital points to take us past Wimborne into second place, and back into within touching distance of AFC Totton.

I will be there in spirit on Tuesday which might not be a good thing because my support tends to be the 'kiss of death'! However, things are looking good again. We just need to keep winning and then beat Wimborne, Totton and VT. If we finish top (or maybe even second???) we will be promoted. According to the vice chairman the club knows what work needs to be done on the ground for this to be achieved and it can be done. If we don't go up this season we surely will next year! And, as someone said to me we'd get another crack at the FA Vase! As for Gary Funnel, surely not a strop! Grown men don't have strops do they?! Whatever happens in the remainder of this season, it's been great so well done Tom Killick, the rets of the management team and all the players. UP THE DOLPHINS!!!

This was always going to be a hard game but if we are going to press on then we will need to find a catalyst to take us to the next level of play and get the upper hand over these form teams.
I thought we started well with Culli doing a lot of running but unfortunately we went behind to an early goal, something we seem to be doing a lot against form teams. We had a few half chances but nothing to write home about in the first half, I thought Gilly looked stronger today, sometimes getting back to help the defence. We lost Culli near the end of the first half with a face injury, who was replaced by Steve Smith, the half finished 0-1.
In the second half we came out and gave it a go to try to win the game and the equaliser looked like it was coming in the first few minutes, when Cann played an early ball in, with two Poole players going for the same ball inside the box Steve Smith blazed over the bar. The equaliser did come about thanks mainly to the hard work of Gill just outside the Brock box where Gill was judged to have fouled the Brock defender. The keeper elected to take the decision of coming out of his area to take the Free Kick on the left and as he pumped the ball up field it was cleared up to Steve Smith about 35-40 yards out, seeing the keeper off his line and trying to get back to goal Stevo hit a first time great lob straight into the empty net, Nice one !! In the final part of the second half Charles Culliford replaced Skelton and shane Ayres replaced Yelland and Poole tried in vain to push for the winner. We saw some good runs by Trefor at times with the same coming from Shane Ayres, beating four players on one of his runs. Final score 1-1. Our destination is still in our own hands but we need to make that vital step up to beat these form teams and I feel at times we look anxious in our play. We've had a lot of team disruptions that haven't helped but once things settle down again I'm sure we can get the results, Next stop Romsey this Saturday. Come on lads keep it going!
