I know it's in the North East and I've been on the Consett FC website which doesn't give ground details and directions as far as I can see.
I've tried the Albany Northern League wthout success (Wessex League has a much better site).
I've also been on Trainline but there doesn't appear to be a station at Consett.
Can anyone tell me what is the nearest railway station to Consett and how far it is from there to the ground.
I live in Morecambe!

I'm also thinking of taking the train up although from where I am I will go from Kings Cross. Consett hasn't got a mainline station so I will go to either Durham City which is ten miles away from Consett ,or to Newcastle which is eleven miles from Consett. If any Consett supporter can advise me on bus routes etc it would be most appreciated. Last time I went up that way was to Darlington and the GNER was quick and effortless with a first class deal cheaper than second class. Work than one out.

Hi Brian If your travelling from Morecambe then your best bet is driving. However if you are getting the train get the train to Newcastle. Its then 40 mins on a bus to consett. You can get the nuber 45 or 46,46a from outside the station and they are every 30 mins. Only 1 bus an hour from Durham so id stick with Newcastle.Dont even contemplate getting off at Corbridge or Hexam as you will have to get a taxi. Here is a link for the bus timetables www.simplygo.com/timetables/0045_46_46A.pdfConsett is a canny night out with ample bars with late licences and at least 4 nightclubs.Hotels available as well best value probably The Raven Hotel about 3 miles out. If anyone needs any help or has any questions then let me know and ill do my best to point you in the right direction. We drove down on Sat /Left at 0500 got to Bournemouth at 1045(with a 20 min break as well) so driving is the cheapest option Steelman

Sounds interesting, there is a cheaper flight at £89.93, Stansted to Newcastle return, with no frills airline. Another alternative where I am.

I agree with Steelman. Newcastle is the best bet for a bus to Consett. If you fly, take a metro to Newcastle and pick up a bus at Eldon Square. The Raven is a reasonable 3 star option for a hotel: www.ravencountryhotel.co.uk/directions.shtmlWhile for a posher option (e.g. gym, swimming pool and wedding facilities...) there is the Derwent Manor Hotel: www.bw-derwentmanorhotel.co.uk/Or for a more basic b&b, there is the Crown and Crossed Swords in Shotley Bridge: www.a1tourism.com/uk/crown4.htmlI have stayed in all three, and you get what you pay for. If you are bringing the wife you'll be better off with one of the 2 hotels, but for a lads trip use the Crown and Crossed! Like Steelman, I will help out with any answers that I can! We investigated flights and trains, but for various reasons the car was the best option. We left here at 12 noon on friday and arrived in Poole at 640pm after a 20 minute and a 5 minute break. Going back we left Poole at 930am and got backaround 4pm, after a ten minute and a 40 minute break on the way. To be honest the drive (M27, M3, M25, M1) was nowhere near as bad as I had expected. By the way, Consett is ankle deep in slushy snow just now... Safe Journey! PS (from the Arngrove Northern League site) Consett AFC Belle Vue Park, Ashdale Road, Consett, County Durham. DH8 6LR

Thanks for the advice everyone.
Dave2, unfortunately the flight from Southampton turns around and comes straight back, with no return early evening. The return is on sunday midday instead, booked over the net it will cost in the region of £165.
