As promised, I have written to the Mayor of Poole calling upon him to use his position to influence other councillors, council officers, local businesses and people to get behind the club at this crucial time!
I informed the mayor that Poole is the second largest town in the country without a fully profesional football club, that a successful football team can have very beneficial effects in a town and that now was a good time for the council to show some support for "The Town" etc etc.
I'll let you know what he replies.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Poole Council to take an interest!!. Neutral 1, I am really enjoying the yesteryear items but what I am really pleased to see is the current interest that is awakening for PTFC. I am sure that the team appreciates the support, Max Frampton says on Pitchside that he misses the vocal support that the Poole team enjoys, I was a little perturbed to read earlier on this site that even if we win the league we still may not qualify for ground reasons for promotion....which brings us back to Poole Council enabling a league winning team to play at a higher level. BTW did you see the crowd number on the 1957 game report..I was probably one of the 2000 plus as i remember most of the players. UP THE TOWN!!!!

Hello, Well done Brian I think writing to the Mayor is a positive step I don't think he or his council will listen but it worth a try. Unless we get to the Vase final of course. Then you wait and see all the promises that we will get. I will also write of the the Mayor to explain that our Town needs a decent footie team and I will post his/councils reply.

Maybe the best way to get the council to listen is to start a petition? I dont mean one of the online petition things, nobody takes any notice of them as they are too easy to fake. I mean someone standing in Poole High street/town centre canvessing for votes. That by itself might not be enough but it should make the council sit up and listen if we got a few thousand signatures.

The petition idea is a good one but one that would be well received if Poole Town FC had a mascot.Ideas?
I have always found with persuasion the weight of the word is better listened too with as much popularity shown as possible, the more interest that can be projected on this forum as well as other ways would be better for the cause. I will also write a letter, does anyone have the address?

I'm an AFC Bournemouth fan, but get to Town games when I can. Surely if Town played a few games on a Sunday at 3pm the gate would drastically improve? I was at the Hamworthy game on boxing day and I can say that there was more then 30 familiar faces from Dean Court.

Regarding Poole Council. I actually e-mailed the mayor - no response so far. Today I sent a letter to all 42 Poole Borough Councillors. Among other things I suggested that a successful FC is a commercial and social asset to a town and asked them all to support the club and especially any planning applications. I must admit it was easier to send all letters c/o Civic Centre, Poole, Dorset, BH15 2RU. I've also written to the Bournemouth Evening Echo which now seems to be the only local paper for Poole apart from the Western Gazette (may write tothem too). Other fans may care to cnsider approaches to the papers/media.

Hello all. I recently sent a letter in to the letters page of the Daily Echo which was printed exactly as I had written it, regarding the refusal of planning permission at the ground for the new toilets. The Echo has since printed two more letters from fans supporting the football club. So I thought i'd e-mail the Echo to thank them for their support, I have just received a reply from Jon Bish who is the letters editor for the Echo thanking me for my contribution. So if you are sat there looking at this, send in a letter to the Echo in support of the team, e-mail to letters@bournemouthecho.co.uk the more it is in the news the more chance this shocking council will feel they had better help us!

The Bournemouth Daily Echo seem to have quite a interest in Poole Town FC at the moment, I have just finished reading a report on the Daily Echo website regarding the match report posted on this site by Steve Bean regarding the Poole v Bemerton game and it seems that the Wessex league organisers aren't very happy about what he has written. Personally I think this is a over reaction by the league, from what I have read both here and on various other sites the match reports posted by both Steve Bean and Neutral1 seem to match. For anyone interested the related article can be found here. www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/football/display.var.1950083.0.match_report_could_land_poole_in_hot_water.php

great interview with TK in the Bournemouth Echo outlining some of the issues PTFC face in trying to regain Southern League Status, Yes, I have seen Dorchester FC Ground and it is a credit to them and their community. I also agree that the Stadium was never an ideal football ground as it is used for other purposes. However, bottom line, what are the costings for improving Tatnam Farm as against renting or part owning the Stadium, in this day and age ways could be found to sheltered accommodation over the dog and speedway track if only for the football season. TAKE A FRIEND TO THE GAME TOMORROW. UP THE TOWN!!!
