Poole advanced into the next round with a hard fought win over Cowes in bitterly cold conditions made worse by an equally keen wind,Cowes recieved 6 yellow cards as they took a 'bull in a China shop' approach, obviously keen to make up for the 5-0 drubbing a fortnight earlier.
Their tactics nearly paid off ,but for poor finishing in the second half as their physical approach took hold of the game after Poole went in 1-0 up at half time, courtesy of an Ian Richardsons goal on 23 minutes, when he bundled the ball across the goal line from a well taken Funnel free kick into the box.
New keeper Jason Harvell made his home debut and nearly got off to a bad start as he miskicked early in the first half,he more than made amends with a couple of good stops culminating in narrowing down the angle when a cowes striker was clean through on goal, only to see his low shot skim out of play off the post.
With Ben Osborne cup tied 'Browner' took his place up front but in a scrappy game that saw 'some' go missing the ever present Luke Whitley played a blinder and seemed to be every where at times, even making a crucial goaline clearance early in the second half.
MoM for me ,Luke Whitley

Have been watching this season's exploits via this website and occasional Echo dispatches (I'm in Bristol). This is a really exciting time for Poole, and it'd mean the world to me if they got to Wembley. Best of luck boys.
Hope to see a win agianst Hamworthy on Boxing Day too, my first 'live' Dolphins game for a few years....
