Poole Town landed at Moneyfields this afternoon looking for 3 points in a game Poole needed to win to keep up the pressure on leaders Wimborne who took over the summit last Tuesday, one inclusion in the side was Chris Smith over Taff Richardson who was out injured.
Unfortunately the script didn't go according to plan and even with Big Max Frampton in the Poole goal putting in a Man of the Match performance,it still wasn't enough to keep Moneyfields at bay and with todays loss Poole now share something in common with Man United .....two league defeats all season.
The game got off to a scrappy start with Culliford Funnel and Sturgess all grafting in the middle of the park to try to carve out a breakthrough against the opposition, chances were limited for both sides, early on Max had to get down well to make an excellent low save,up the other end Luke Whitley made room with a good touch before firing a long Cross into the right side of the box for Culliford to head across the face of goal only for the ball to elude the forwards to be cleared.
With the game going 'To and Fro',Poole finally netted when Good work by funnell and a long ball found Steve Smith over on the right,Smiths pace took the ball to the by-line before hitting a low cross back into the box for Ben Osbourne to net from close range, making this Bens first goal from open play.
H/T 0-1
Early in the second half Big Max was on hand again to save before the ball was eventually cleared off the line by a defender,up the other end the nimble feet of Trefor Smith were working well to try to carve out some chances to extend the lead and with an effort by Culli just being tipped over by the moneyfields keeper it looked like only time before the second would come.
Max again made a fantastic save from the No8 as the powerful shot swerved in on target and on 68 minutes Saddi replaced Chris Smith, not long after the moneyfields manager made a double substitution and Moneyfields began to pick up the tempo as they went in search of an equaliser, this came on 75 minutes when some loose marking allowed a moneyfield player to crack in a fierce shot from the edge of the area to make it 1-1, five minutes later with the Poole defence at sixes and sevens moneyfield scored the winner from an identical shot and although Poole went 4-3-3 moving Richardson up front Moneyfields hung on to their lead to inflict on Poole only their second league defeat of the season.
Next up,This tuesday are Wimborne Town in the Dorset Senior Cup Q/Final at Tatnam.
