Sadly Hamworthy Utd have withdrawn from the southern league with immediate effect due to spiralling running cost and being unable to generate any real income whilst playing at Weymouth fc ground, local rivalry apart I find this a very sad situation and I hope they rise again in the near future ( I believe according to club statement they intend to keep there “ Reserves “ playing in DPL) good luck to them and hope most of the players find new clubs soon.

Annoyed at both Dorset FA & BCP over their slowness in replacing the stand at The County Ground. If this had been done I am sure Hamworthy United would still be in the Southern League. I wish them well for the future & hope they regain Southern League status in the future.
Does this mean Will Fletcher now returns to Poole Town? As I believe he was on loan to them from us.

may we live in interesting times1!
New defender straight into the team!
Will the Hammers play at the made over County Ground?? seems a bit over the top for a Dorset League team OR
speculation of the day!!
Is crossing the water a Bridge too far for The Town???
a ready made NL capable venue

So no thanks! No show of compassion for Hamworthy United? Wow, brutal! Know we have had our issues re the groundshare. But that was sometime. Forgive (don't forget), learn move on.

What a crying shame for the Hammers. Was their stand at Hamworthy about to fall down or contain asbestos ?. If so then surely they could have fenced off the area and continued to play their home games. All of this club's recent progress cancelled out by rules and regulations.

The question is how many semi-pro teams can a town like Poole support in this day and age?
Going into the past we had the fracturing of Poole Town with the nascent Poole Borough claiming that they were Poole's best opportunity for NL football! Didnt happen and they play out the masquerade at Turlin Moor,
The good ship Dolphin has survived and i am very hopeful for our future.
As for Hamworthy,never supported them although a great favourite of mine,Irvin Brown did so much for them;
Clubs fall and rise quite frequently; Poole Town,Salisbury to name a couple!
Some of us can remember Hamworthy in the DCL where they competed against Parley Sports who were then a powerhouse with ex Wolves and PTFC player Bobby Mason and other pros in their ranks
So,as usual, its down to the money! Hamworthy have run out of it and PTFC need more of it!

It is a shame. I suppose that the Hamworthy BOD should have thought of this before they accepted SL status BUT when your ground is not your own you are always vulnerable - as we well know! And, as those of us long memories will recall, when you're in trouble you need a Clive Robbins and a Chris Reeves.

Firstly, sorry to hear about HUFC's demise. There will be some very sad players, staff and supporters, waking up to a loss of a major aspect of their social life or income today.
Secondly, if it's not too soon, and wearing a Dolphins scarf, what does it potentially mean for us? What can the club do to encourage their former fans to cross the bridge and get their footy kicks at our ground? They don't have season ticket holders this season so no deal can be offered there.
More long term, what are the real barriers in simple terms about us playing at their ground some time in the future? What is the arrangement with Dorset FA (yes, I know they own the ground)? Does this open a possible future door for us?

First of all the council own the ground, the Dorset F.A lease the ground from them, and Hamworthy United sub-lease it from them. One thing in the Hammers favour is that they own the bar which have excellent facilities. The cost of replacing the stand has rocketed, and the time for replacement lengthened due to finding a lot more asbestos as it was knocked down. Make no mistake had the new stand been in place by late September the original target, Hamworthy would be staying in the league.Weymouth were very good to us but it still cost a great of money to use their facilities. Travelling expenses another huge expense. Despite this like the Dolphins a few years ago the Hammers will rise again.

I return to my original argument
Does Poole(the urban conurbation) have the financial means to support more than one semi pro football team?
Our nearest competitors have ONE
Salisbury,Dorchester. Yeovil, Weymouth, Exeter etc
Dilution of money and talent inevitably leads to failure somewhere.
So cheer up Hammers supporters, cross the bridges physically and psychologically
PTFC is a big tent!
And lets put POOLE(the urban conurbation) back into the upper echelons of Non League Football

I feel for everyone at Hamworthy, it is really not a pleasant position for them to be in.
I also thought it would be nice to hold out a hand and welcome them into the Dolphin fold (pod?), if we can.
I had thought that maybe offering their season ticket holders discounted admission to our matches might be a good idea, as DollyFinn suggested, as a way of getting them into the habit of supporting us.
I think they might actually have season tickets at Hamworthy. I tried to to do a bit of a google to confirm what DollyFinn said, and have just seen that Wimborne Town are offering Hamworthy's season ticket holders free admission. So maybe they do have season tickets at Hamworthy(?) What Wimborne Town actually say on their website is:
"At Wimborne Town we would like to offer any Season Ticket Holder of Hamworthy United the option of swapping out their Season Ticket with us at tomorrow’s home game instead of approaching Hamworthy for any refunds.”
In light of this news, we would like to offer any Hamworthy Season Ticket holder the opportunity to continue watching Southern League football this season. So at our home game tomorrow, any 23/24 Hamworthy Season Ticket holder, will be able to swap their season ticket for a season ticket with us for no cost. If you are a Hamworthy United Season Ticket Holder, please come to our ticket office tomorrow."
So obviously they are hoping to convert the Hammers fans to support them.
Long term if they end up becoming long term paying supporters it seems a good idea. It would be a good idea for us too.
Perhaps someone with connections to PTFC's BOD/commercial manager can raise this and let them know what Wimborne are up to?
Thanks.

Dolly Fin and Astro. Excellent observations
i dont know what our attendance was but Wimborne gave 563 as their numbers vs Bideford
Goes to prove that we have a long long way to go
Results and attractive football will build the base!

Apparently Hamworthy have no season tickets this season due to their ground not being used so no kind offer from Poole, or Wimborne, to honour them is possible.

OK
Can anyone out there enlighten me on the question of our attendance
Personally I think that Bracknell defeat and the Dorchester home defeat(Yes Pre the New Era) have done us no good at all!
Our attendance yesterday was 407; Up at New Cuthbury they had 563 for a game vs Bideford a league below us!!
Even though we had a beer offer on it didnt bring 'em in.
Matt Tubbs and Andrew Rossiter have a mountain to climb!
My answer would be consistency leading to momentum both of which we have been sorely lacking since our departure from the NLS; And of course our seeming inability to win clutch games
UP THE TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWN!!

Makes Wimborne Town's offer look a little foolish if they got this wrong.
I think it is still worth welcoming the hammers fans to our club in some way if we can.
