Are the club planning an early pitch inspection tomorrow?

As Merthyr have to travel so far, it would be prudent. However rain is only forecast for a couple of hours so fingers crossed.

Have we contacted Merthyr to see what they want. If there is no more rain, then although the pitch might be unplayable at 9am, with another 6 hours drying it might be perfectly playable. So if they are happy to leave it as late as possible. Ie after they have started travelling, in the knowledge that if there is no more rain it will be fine. But if there is it may get called off after all.

0-1 down after seven minutes! As several people have posted, they lost 7-1 at home to Dorchester in midweek. Surely we can beat them on our own ground! Come on boys!!

Just heard from RtS that Gilly is on the bench in a coaching capacity having given up playing. I think that Gilly was one of our best players in recent seasons and, if it hadn't have been for injuries, still would be. All the best to you Gilly and good luck with the coaching!
Meanwhile, COYD!

A fairly comfortable win in the end. 1st half I couldn’t believe the amount of space Merthyr we’re giving us outside their own box. I can see why they conceded 7 last time out. On another day we could have had 5 by half time. Thought the new lad from Yeovil had a good debut, seemed to fit in well straight out the blocks

Dave do you really believe the decision of the game being on or off is anything to do with what “ Merthyr” want, the pitch is either playable or not at inspection time, sure sometimes games get called off too early when by 3pm it may well have been playable, but the decision is made rightfully by an official not involved with either club, frustrating on occasions but you can’t start involving clubs opinions at this level. Well done to ChrisK in getting it ready anyway.

Brian FYI, the Dorchester v Merthyr result was not what it seems at face value their GK went off just before HT injured and had no sub GK on the bench their manger had to go in goal, and after making all there subs with 10 mins left a player went off injured followed by 4 goals in final 8 mins, so a false result putting today’s victory into a bit of perspective, well done to Poole!!! Not everything is as clear as it seems at face value 👍

Really entertaining game yesterday and good home performance again could have ended 5-3 Poole but both keepers put in a good performance. Jez Bedford had a really good game too.

Hi all - Enjoyed our day out yesterday except for the result of course. The Cornish cider available in your clubhouse was certainly on form!
Due to the injury sustained by our regular keeper in the week, we managed to obtain the services of Scott Reed from the Swansea youth set up and I'm sure you'll agree he did well particularly considering he only met the rest of our team in the changing room on the day. We also had 6 other players missing who probably would have started.
Whilst it was 2-1 to you there was always the hope we could nick one and it was only just before full time you made it safe.
On a personal note I met someone from Merthyr who now lives in Poole who I hadn't seen for 50 years and had a good chat with John Anderson and I explained the player registration details between the FA and the Football Association of Wales which makes a great difference to our ability to compete.
Good luck for the rest of the season - you will probably finish 5th which will put you at a disadvantage and the promotion system defies logic!
