i tuned into the match on tuesday but the sound was so bad you just could hear what was going on i know poole town radio has been developed recently and there are new commentators on board but previously the broadcast has been clear, i assume it is being broadcast from the same area of the ground so i wonder what the issue is with the now poor quality of sound anyone know ?

I tried to tune in but got no commentary at all. Previous commentaries were also poor this year in that the sound of the spectators were nosier than the commentary (which if it was audible was good)
At the Poole home games it would be advantages to have built in the stand, a sound proof area so that the commentators could then be eliminated from the spectators and the commentary itself could then be heard away from the background noise.

good idea dave but as i mentioned last seasons commentaries were a lot clearer with less spectators noise in the background so i wonder what has changed ?

I’ve recently come back to help out with the commentary after helping to set it up in the 2016/17 season, and the set up has completely changed. We’re still getting used to the new set up and testing glitches but obviously we can’t tell what we sound like live! Please bear with us!

The setup we used last year was criticised for rustling of the microphones on the commentator's cloths and the cost wa very expensive.
The set up last year used two lavalier microphones. an ipad, a mobile broadband router and a Spreaker subscription. The cost of the mobile broadband and Spreaker was over £40 per month from memory. This was paid for by Hannah Devlin, Scorpio and Nick Spetch. Remember that the club make no money from this and in fact it may stop one or two from attending the games at home.
The setup was limited in that there was no control over the mic levels and the mics were more prone to picking up crowd noises. I bought a mixer to allow this and allow us to play music or podcasts etc before the match and during half-time. I also paid for a plan for up to 100 listeners and bought a mobile broadband router and paid for broadband. The mics are two I already had. So far it has cost me £100+ and £18:50 per month.
The first trials with the new mics went well. At Beaconsfield we had a press box and so the quality was good since then something has changed and I cannot work out what yet,we go again on Saturday.
Eventually we will need sponsorship and/or subscriptions to the service. I am a pensioner and cannot afford to keep the service running alone. However that will be when the bugs are ironed out.
remember all this is done by volunteers that are trying to provide a service.

Thanks for all your efforts John. I can't attend all games due to family commitments but got whenever I can (around 75% I attend). But for the other 25% that I can't I appreciate your time & effort.
