one of our greatest goalscorers has passed away aged 86.
Bill was a lethal centre forward in the fifties and top scored with 22 goals in our first Southern League season in 1957/58.
He had clocked up 63 goals in the Western League the season before.
His sons Paul and Steve and grandson Callum will be guests of the club on Saturday v Walton Casuals and there will be a minutes applause before the game.
There will be tribute to Bill in the programme.
Funeral details will be announced when known.

So sorry to hear that Bill Gillett has passed away, I have some great memories from back then of his goal scoring ability when I was a ballboy behind the goal at Poole Stadium. RIP Bill, a true Legend.

I saw Bill Gillett play for Poole Town when I was a boy. He was one of my first ever footballing heroes. Sad to hear that he's gone but many happy memories, thanks Bill.

Funeral confirmed now.
Tuesday 29th January @ Bournemouth Crematorium 11.45.
I have been told that Bill always lookedout for our results and talked very fondly of his time with us.
Would be good to see some red and white there paying tribute to a legendary goal scorer.

Many thanks to all those at the game last who joined in with the minutes applause in memory of our father , Bill Gillett.
Thanks also to Chris and Pippa who made us most welcome last night. It was almost the perfect evening ,only spoiled by the last 5 minutes.
Good luck for the rest of the season .
Steve & Paul Gillett
