On Tuesday night our talented u18s bowed out of the FA Youth Cup in a 5-1 defeat away at Gosport in the 2nd Qualifying round. This however does not tell the full story. Our lads who are playing a year above their age group were decimated by injury and only had 10 fit players- a full compliment travelled however despite some of their number not being fit to play. The 10 put up a brave battle and led for much of the first half through a goal from James Hissc ock.The fact that Gosport had a fully fit 16 eventually counted of course but our lads did themselves and the club proud in the circumstances- many would have scratched the fixture but that was never an option for us!! Well done lads we are all proud of you!

Proud is the right word Chris. Thanks lads and thanks to the people who run the under 18s and all the other teams in PTFC.

Chris,
Thanks for the update. It looks good for next year if these players are still be eligible for U18 football.
Also I have just been on to the club website to check on how thw U18s are doing. The link sends me to the South West Counties Youth League - U18. Poole Town are not shown as being part of this league. Can you tell me where I can follow their progress?

The u18 team representing us this season is in fact the very very successful u16 team that has only been beaten 4 times in the past 5 years winning leagues cups etc galore, indeed this year they are playing up two years as most of them have only just turned 16 and now play in the Dorset County youth league Div 1 if I am honest they are finding it quite tough this year, not on the footballing side more the physical element, there manager Scott Southwick believes they will get more out of this season than playing down in Div 2 or 3 and winning 7 or 8 Nil each week, I know Nick Spetch has looked at them and already has bloodied a couple into the Res on occasions. many of them have also been playing for the county side, so all in all a good team for the future. We also have another 28 odd teams playing in various leagues ranging from u8-u16 most of them are top or near top in there respective leagues, we are lucky as a club to have such a strong youth section.
