I'm not trying to show off friends but I do have a serious question for you.
On Tuesday I got a taxi to Lancaster railway station at 5.00am; a train from there to Preston at 5.35am and another from Preston to Manchester Airport at 6.10am arriving at 7.17am. At 10.30 am (aprox 2 hours late) I was flown to Leeds/Bradford (a diversion to pick up stranded passengers) and then on to Southampton. I took the 13.15 train to Poole and arrived at about 2.00pm. On Wednesday I took the 5.42 train from Poole to Southampton Airport, the 8.35 plane to Manchester, the 11.00 am train from there to Lancaster and the 12.28 from Lancaster to Morecambe and then a bus home by about 1.00pm. Fortunately 'er at work (aka the morecambedolphin) subbed me quite a bit for the trip which including B & B cost about £130:00. Then there's a bit for beer and food (thanks for the pint m3!). As I've said elsewhere it was great to be there but for the same outlay I could have sponsored a couple more players or simply sent the club £150.00.
Which should I have done?

bearing in mind the result... ...no being at a game is better than being at the end of a live match thread - the trouble being the score probably hurt more than the cost of your trip!

Brian, as somebody who used to do long distance supporting, you can never ever beat being at the game.

I hope to do the long distance thing early next season and see our Dolphins at BR Great stuff in the latest fanzine including a "I wuz there" memory of our great display at Watford in 1962. I was also very interested to see a photoof Peter Blundell whose family if i remem ber had a grocery store in the Garland Road area. did Peter ever play for PTFC or was it Longfleet St Mary's??
I'm off to watch my local ice hockey team (under 21s) and it will be a good one tonight as wetake on Buffalo from New York USA. BACK TO BACK
