I've been thinking about this one a lot and to be honest I wouldn't be too upset if we didn't get promoted, and that's not being negative. I'm trying to be realistic.
I personally don't want us to rush it and spoil things.
What concerns me is the amount of clubs getting into financial difficulty, with some looking to go into administration and possibly out of business. In separate reports last week both on radio and TV it appears there are clubs right through league one to league two and right through the non-league scene who are in very deep water.
Our club is building sensibly at the moment but there is, I fee,l a fine balancing act between securing BR and getting promoted. To go up before securing BR and the revenue streams BR will help create might leave us wanting, especially in these hard economic times, and as soon as we win promotion our outgoings will increase dramatically. BR with a refurbished pavilion/clubhouse will at least give us financial support and also a decent base where we can build our support to mount an assault to the next stages.
I firmly believe that with the support growing as it is and a club built on solid foundations we will out grow this and the next league quite comfortably, we might even go through winning every game with ease such are the great prospects facing PTFC and it's surrounding area.
To rush things now might spoil the paint job finish we want and for that reason I am willing to be totally unselfish and am willing to spend what ever time it takes in this league till BR or wherever is secured and our fan base has expanded. It's still going to be fun helping us reach those goals and winning heaps of silverwear will doing so.

Hopefully we'll have some very good news on the future very soon I still think that we have to go for promotion though, builds the fan base and encourages players to stay with us. But, I still stand by my earlier statement. Floreat Dolphins

Very sensible you two, except for a couple of things. Firstly, Level 5 is the hardest step to get out of (no play-offs; only one promoted) and, secondly, I think the present side would cope quite well at level 4. I think we should get up one more level while we've got the chance and then consolidate.

Brian, as ever we all agree, but not getting Branksome built will be a tragedy for the Borough, and a lot further beyond, not just Poole Town. Of course we all want Level 4 next season, but I agree with m3, and we all know the Board would never jeopardise our future..

Fair enough sterte. Branksome is a must for all the reasons you say and, in the history of the world, promotion this year isn't the end of it. But.............. I want it now!!!!! I can't help it, after such a great season what a climax it would (will?) be.

I can't help it, after such a great season what a climax it would (will?) be. We were discussing today whether to hire a coach for the Brockenhurst game or use the train. The Armed Forces Supporters Club are favouring anything involving alcohol/champagne ;D
