As seems to becoming a common theme, Poole made hard work of it. The first half was pretty poor - too much booting up field and not enough crisp passing. Jason made a fantastic double save that stopped us going behind. Gilly had a shot just wide. The ball often did not fall for us and the ref made very few decisions in our favour.
In the second half Poole were much more dominant. We were helped by New Milton seeming to be keen to give us the ball back! Spookily just having said we need to feed the ball to Carl as that looks the best chance than Charlie played a lovely ball to Gilly who shot was parried by the keeper but Carl was on hand to knock in.
It always felt like if we got one the floodgates would open. Must have been 2 minutes later when Charlie broke through and finished clinically. That really upset the New Milton goalie!
Browners nearly got a third with a shot that that hit the post. In the dying seconds an own goal gave us number 3 (Luke was trying to claim it as the nearest Poole player!).
In the end a comfortable victory but I felt if Poole passed the ball from the beginning then they could have trounced the opposition. Anyhow - another 3 points is what matters most.

As peterlep says not the best display today but again it was like a cup final for the opposition.
As soon as we scored you could see the New Milton heads drop and from then on it was all Poole
The introduction of Stu Brown was the turning point. Culli is a great midfielder but not a striker when we have other options.
If Luke keeps trying to claim all the own goals he'll end up with more than Charlie!
Another enjoyable day out and 3 points in the bag. 16 points clear. Come on you reds

;)Just one comment really and that's about the ref. Personally I thought although we maybe didn't get the decisions in our favour in the first half that we wanted, he did keep his nice bright orange whistle in his pocket and let play go on, instead of blowing for every innocuous challenge.
Personally I like that so I give the ref 10/10
Nothing spoils a game more than a whistle happy ref

As has already been said , a rather un-convincing performance , against a well-motivated but rather average side . I was a bit confused by our tactics , particularly in the first half , and I wonder if our players were too. Charlie seemed to be playing as a left-half at times ( oops- showing me age now) and didn't terrify the opposition in his usual way , Culli kind of roamed around all over the place , and The Boy Preston didn't seem to really know where to play for the best , apart from a couple of jinking runs . This resulted in a lot of rather aimless long passes forward , which the home defence dealt with all too easily . There was a bit more threat about us after the break , and thankfully the goals arrived . My first trip to Fawcett's Field , and I thought it a nice , tidy little ground , (with excellent Cheese and Onion Rolls from the friendly tea-ladies ) , the sort of place I would hope that we are able to be playing in before too long .

Blast - I had to be home by 5.30, so I left a few mins before the end, so missed the last goal. Maybe Luke can claim it was the 'Force'!
ps: the flags looked great

It seems that everyone is up and at us in the first half. But we seem to grind them down, then play football and get the win. Don't think we'll see much pretty football this season, (which upsets the purists) March especially will be a hard slog, we are the Cup Final every game now.

As mentioned before, these games are going to be like cup finals now and another thing you notice about our players is the anxiety to get that ball in the net when perhaps a little more patience would suffice. Not a bad ref but refs need to start looking at the treatment of Gilly, because of his pace and awkwardness he's taking a lot of tackles lately. His ankles must be black and blue.
