Unbelievable!! We really found out what Poole Town are made of tonight. 1 - 3 down with 10 mins to go the lads didn't give up.......they didn't panic they kept on playing football. Justice was seen to be done. I think that when the pressure is on Poole have shown that they still have 2 x more gears to move up through - that's what makes us a class act! PS I didn't think the ref was that bad. It was not his fault that we missed so many scoring chances and should have been, at least 3 - 0 up at half-time

I only reported what I was told but if sterte said the ref wasn't good then, as far as I'm concerned, he wasn't. You're right though mike, it wasn't the ref's fault that we weren't ahead by 3 goals at half time. You're also right that it was unbelievable, incredible (that's the same isn't it?) to be on the end of the phone. As you say, the boys don't give up and that's what is important. What a triumph!

Well, now it's the day after we can look back on a great performance. However, in spite of all the qualities that he game brought out, we did let 3 goals in and nearly lost!
We can't do that against some other Wessex sides (Brock, Christchurch, Wimborne etc) and get away with it and certainly not VT!!

I think to be honest this could well of been the game of the season so far! We completely shut down for a while and found ourselves 3 - 1 down, then the quality that we are shone through with 3 goals in 10 mins! Totally heartstopping stuff!!! Charlie by far the class along with sturg and gilly!

Fair enough steve, and it was very, very exciting. But VT won't let us do that! Anyway, I bet no one predicted it!!!

A game of many comebacks - first the weather looked like claiming another fixture, then ChrisK with the aid of a hired pump staged a magnificent turn around, even working on drainage while the game was being played.
In the first half we had the ball in the net twice early on thanks to Charlie, but both efforts were ruled off-side. Charlie finally found a way through for 1-0 on 38 minutes. It was a slog to try and add to the scoreline and the best chance fell to Taffy who blasted over from close range. One thing that stood out in the first half were the quality of some of the long range passes...Awesome.
In the second we attacked the boggy end but with tiring legs the lads created opportunities a plenty, Culli had a couple of chances one of which hit the post. I remember saying to those around me that with the amount of goal scoring chances we had it's likely Lymo will go down the other end and score - and they did, not once but three times as we fell apart for a ten minute spell.
Now I've seen 3 goal come-backs before but not TWO = three goal come-backs in one game.....but come-back we did and with around 10 minutes left and 3-1 down the lads stepped up a gear, I though Sturgess should take max credit as he, along with Charlie, showed how to stay upright while those around did everything to bring them down, along with Taffy they drove on and a bundled goal brought it back to 3-2 thanks to Luke.
With the minutes ticking away we won a free-kick on the edge of the area and the ball was driven home by Preston for 3-3. The lads were now on fire and attacked again with the ball breaking to the right of the Lymo goal area to Taffy who prodded the ball across goal for Smithy to smash home from 10 yards - cue delirium and final comeback complete.
Where else could i have got so much entertainment for six quid....Excellent!!

It was certainly a neve racking game, which we thankfully won. It's good to kow that just because we went 1 up, that the boys did not stop trying until it was over.

If you want to enjoy it yet again, there's a good report on the Wessex League site.

One of the best games I've seen at Tatnam. Truly amazing performance from the boys.......this is a pivotal moment in our season. We were out of it at one point then it was turned around by pure determination........this sort of spirit is going to be the deciding factor and surely eventual success.

Didn't think you deserved to be threatened by their physio tho slepe ! Thought Charlie lead the line superbly, also young Carl Preston played well. I think tho,we should return to 442 at fawcett fields, bringing back in Simon & Carl Poore.

I don't think we should worry too much when VT come down. I saw them turn over Hamworthy 8 - 0 last Saturday. They look good but not that good! However, I must concede that it was difficult to judge their quality against a Sunday League pub team - cos that is exactly how Hamworthy played. 'The Hammers'? more like 'The Jellybabies'. It appears to me that we are the team to beat. For those teams with nothing left in their season a match against The Dolphins must be like a cup final - my evidence is Lymington's performance - it was way above their league position. I thought they looked quite useful. Organised but a bit agricultural in their tackles. By the way, well done the lads bhind the goal on Tuesday. I'm sure the vocal support gave the team a lift. A true team effort COYD -onward and upward
