A brief match report on the messageboard on Tony Kempster site:
Hamworthy United 0 VTFC 8 (that's eight!)
Wessex Premier
In: £5 Prog: £1 Bovril: 60p
Attendance 123
Oh what a shambles! Credit to VT - they played some attractive football, but considering this was a big match for the home club, there was something wrong somewhere. After 5 straight wins playing a back 3, Hammers system was changed today. Granted some regulars were missing in midfield, but the 4-5-1 set up seemed a mystery to the players. With one of the regular back 3 playing in central midfield alongside the reserve team manager the defence and midfield all seemed strangers to each other. At half time (0-3) he took off a central defender and the ressies manager, and went to a back 3 (one of whom was promptly sent off after a tackle from behind - penalty + last man). That left it 9 playing 10, as Cannie was felled by a disgusting tackle from behind at the end of the 1st half and promptly thumped the VT defender who thumped him back. Cannie got a straight red and the defender got a yellow, then a red? There was an award today for Hammers Player of the Match (I think adjudicated by the referee's assessor) - I didn't stay to see who got it because nobody deserved it. Apparently lots of people worked very hard this morning to get the game on - they did a good job, the pitch played fine, but I bet they wished they hadn't bothered. I was a bit disappointed with the crowd as well - I thought we'd get more today with Poole off.

At least there were some sendings off. Rob Bayston must've had the voodoo dolls out :-)

I was at the game today and ham were awful and did'nt manage a shot on target. Paul Sales and Warren Hunt (who scored 4) were class up front for VT.
Two of our old boys Cannie and Gilbert saw red but hardly anybody cheered when VT kept scoring as they only had about six fans at the ground.
I think Simkin threw the game to stop the mighty town winning the league by March. The Easter weekend games for Poole against these two could be the deciders. I bet Ham won't be that bad against us.

Will Hamworthy be able to keep their allegedly decent players until Easter, with performances like that? And they thought they'd get a bigger gate with our match off??? Think not everybody is as forgiving as stevem.

Just had alook at the report on the Wessex League site and it doesn't read much much better than Tony Kempster's.
VT will have a better goal difference than the Dolphins now but we just have to keep going on and do as well - or better - than them and beat them again when the time comes!
Can we do it??
