At the end of the day you can't hold players back. That said, he has a hell of a lot to do to make the step-up - I'd be surprised if he didn't see the season out with PTFC.

It's only training at this point, it is isn't it ? Charlie's on a two year contract with us so if he does go then it's not going to be for free. Selfishly I Would rather he stayed though. If he does leave then I wish him all the best for what I can only see is a good future. Best young prospect I've seen along with my mates son and neighbour who's a forward and has just joined Peterborough United.

Don't panic, he is under contract to us so nothing at all can happen without the Board and TKs say so, we always knew with Charlie that at some stage someone would start to sniff, but he won't go anywhere unless it is right for the club and more importantly right for him, inviting him to train is not the same as wantng to sign him, I predict another hat trick against Hordean Saturday.

I understand your message, but they have not invited him to train with them for PTFC's benefit. This will be the first look with a view to something, even possibly mid to long term.
As m3 says, we would wish him well, but selfishly want to see him scoring goals for us in the BGB 1st Divi and not for AFCB in the BSP.

Good news Rob, Phew!! I was listening to talksport recently and they were discussing the shortage of the good old British centre forward, the Bob Latchford type players (remember him slepe), which got me thinking about how Charlie plays. Charlie reminds me of that style of player, much like Norman Whiteside and Teddy Sheringham. I remember seeing Teddy Sheringham's explosion into league football alongside Tony Cascarino, a similar partnership, albeit leagues lower, to Charlie and Browner. IIRC I watched Teddy net 40 or 50 goals in one season, which was helped mainly by the hard work of his partner. In recent seasons I've also watched my freinds son, Ben Wright, who recently got on the scene with Hampton and Richmond as top scorer ( although I did try to tap him up for Poole and get him to contact the club - shame about the distance ) He's got great feet and can place a ball well, and has just last week moved to the Posh. If Charlie can keep his feet on the ground he's every bit as good and in some departments better/stronger. I'm sure there's a bright future for the lad. Just as concerning, some dorch fans want TK as their manager I suppose it's a trait of our success.

I presume Bournemouth are only able to buy during the transfer window. Am I right or wrong? I think that if Charlie wants to go, PTFC must let him go. But the price must be right. Personally I`d put a price of about 1 MILLION + sell on fees. This boy could well be playing premier, maybe even international football soon.

::)Hopefully he will see out the season with us, then take time to consider his options. Maybe AFCB lurching from crisis to crisis would not be a very good move for Charlie

Everyone seems to agree that we want Charlie to fulfil his potential and do what is best for him and that's right enough. It'd be nice if he was happy to work his way up with the Dolphins but that'd take too long even if we got several successive promotions so the best we can hope for is the rest of this season I would think.
However, a team isn't just one player and we've got plenty of other good 'uns.
I'm just as worried, maybe more, about the possibility of losing Tom K.!

I must reinforce what Rob bayston has said about Charlie Austin being on a Contract - We would not let him go unless it was a good move for PTFC and for the player himself. We cannot be selfish in this matter because opportunities like this do not come along every day for strikers and he could very well adapt to the higher level and be a great success. I am afraid it is a fact of life that until we are settled in a new ground and able to maximise our fund raising and finances we will be susceptible to approaches such as these. It is, however, only training, and I wish Charlie every success in his 'trial' with AFCB and hope he wets their appetite for more!!!!

I very much doubt AFCB could afford to pay us, and doubt we would ever take an IOU from them!! For anybody who saw Plymouth Argyle play in the 80s, Charlie reminds me of Tommy Tynan in terms of getting stuck in, bond with the fans, goalscoring prowess and general all around spot on attitude. But I doubt that Charlie would headbutt or knock out teammates in training!! Obviously we want all the players and management to stay, but I guess there is a price for everyone. Still think PTFC is the place for Charlie and TK though. Floreat Dolphins

Latest for AFCB is that Murray hasn't got the money to put into the club. Can't see Charlie going there now :-)
