Chris A big public thank you for your superb representation and support to PTFC not just last night but over many years, without the likes of you and Clive there would not be a PTFC today, last night you were a star, and clearly you won over some objectors, if the comment below taken from todays echo is anything to go by.
"Debs Crowley, Poole says... 10:54am Sat 24 Jan 09 I attended last nights meeting over branksome rec, originally against the project, however after listening to PTFC proposals I am now not so sure, it certainly is not the proposal I was lead to believe submitted, and told about by local residents, hence I signed a petition against it some months ago, yes there are issues over car parking still and should the club address these in more detail I am now totally behind the scheme, I do feel let down however by a certain "Natalie Rose" who in summing up total slated the supporters and officers of the club by branding them ALL Hooligans, a comment the council leader very quickly dis-associated himself from, passionate yes but Hooligans NO, Mrs Rose with a man from the legal profession (Mr Reeves) as part of the other team I won't be surprised if the word "slander" is now a issue, I hope this proposal now goes through, our children of the future will be the winners. To echo Rob’s sentiments above, Chris’s preamble last night outlining his long standing personal association with the club really hit home to my family and I what an absolute credit and asset this man is to our football club. His hard work, dedication and never failing support for the team and club as a whole is something in which we can all take great pride. With true Gentlemen such as Clive and Chris taking this club forward PTFC is in the best possible hands. Whatever the outcome of the Branksome application, a huge vote of thanks and well done for all your hard work (which I can assure you is not taken for granted) to all involved. Just a footnote on last night. Leaving aside all the mis-information and fear mongering fuelled by the opposition, I was left with a few overriding thoughts. 1) Parking, enough has been said on this issue. 2) I know through personal experience, the vast majority of the signatures on the anti petitions mentioned last night were obtained through door stepping. We all know home owners tend to within a certain age category . I’m sure if the youth of the area could become familiar with the clubs proposals through local schools etc, there would be a younger groundswell of actual support for the initiative to hand. 3) Years ago I was instrumental in starting up Branksome Utd’s under 8 team. It’s such a pity that the local residents weren’t as concerned with the terrible conditions the local kids had to put up with then, as they suddenly seem to be now ! 4) Jogging - With all due respect the majority of those objecting could no longer run for a bus, let alone run ‘round the rec’. So as in the case of “picnics” ? (pass the dogs mess dear) let’s get real. Finally…loved getting compared with Everton !!!!!!

I too would like to add my heartfelt thanks to Chris and all the Directors of the Football Club.
The thing I admire most is that all of them are passionate about football and are as desperate as all supporters to see Poole Town do well. Everything that they do is done with the interests of the Football Club and it's Supporters at it's core.
I have supported this Football Club since I was 9 and I've never felt more confident that 'my' home town team is in the right hands.
Well done all. Without you, there would be no Poole Town Football Club.

I've been thinking about Mrs Natalie Rose final comments and just want to let her know the type of 'hooligan' she is dealing with.
My job entails working nights in a busy town centre and as we know there are certain elements that have absolutely NO respect for law, or anybody for that matter. Infact I sometimes question my sanity for working these type of hours in the lawless enviroment that we all sometimes come up against - however I imagine all towns and cities to have the same problem. In 2005 I recieved an award for tackling a dangerous mugger who was later convicted and imprisoned. In 2006 I recieved two letters of thanks from the local Superintendant, one of which included helping a couple of his officers while under possible risk of an attack while detaining a violent person.
Whilst working nights, I and others are sometimes called upon to break up fights, or witness needless assaults on innocent parties, for example - in 2008 I identified a certain miscreant who assaulted up to four different innocent persons over a period of a few days, he is now serving time in her Majesty's hotel. Last week I stopped an assault on a young student nurse - the offender is now helping police with their enquiries. I also had an offender attack me with a bottle - he is now helping the police with their enquiries.
With concern to the type of stuff mentioned above I have attended a number of meetings in my town and have been interviewed by the local paper and voiced openly my concerns on street crime and how to tackle it.
Moving on......
Football and Poole Town FC to me is a great hobby and escape from everyday life. As well as the football, I enjoy the company of decent law abiding supporters I mix with, so to generalise like Ms Rose did that we are all hooligans I find deeply insulting, I hope she takes time out to consider her remarks and perhaps apologise to the supporters of Poole Town FC.

Many thanks Chris. I went into the meeting as a neutral and sceptic but after the presentation I came out 100% for the project. Good luck with it all.

Agree with M3.
Only recently I’ve witnessed TRUE examples of the type of behaviour Mrs Rose “believes” she is referring to. Although we suffered as a result of both of these actions, there is no need to go into details. I only mention this to make what I hope is a topical point, as both incidences took place in the Branksome area.
As I say, the above incidents occurred in the Branksome area. I just wonder if there was a constructive alternative in the area (a multi discipline sporting/social facility for example– ring any bells) perhaps these kids might fill their time in a more constructive (as opposed to destructive) manner. Who knows, we might actually find a few of these kids inside the ground on a Saturday afternoon supporting the team instead of out in the community* causing problems ! However, we are not proposing to cure the social ills of the area, but are trying provide a fitting home for PTFC (wish this could be Tatnam).
Also.
In the four years I have now been associated with Poole Town I have attended every single game home & away. I have never (not on one single occasion) witnessed a supporter of Poole Town engage in any “Hooligan” behaviour. Far from it, you would be hard pressed to find a better group of people supporting their local team anywhere.
What a crass, outdated, uniformed and frankly stupid comment from Mrs Rose.
*Community. Could we not leaflet drop to Branksome area school offices, and youth club managers, asking them to post on notice boards etc. I realise these establishments may not wish to get involved, but who knows. The youngsters get interested, go home tell Mum and Dad – could have all sorts of benefits regarding the clubs profile. At the very least the truth will be out there. Discussions at work today post Friday night’s meeting seem to indicate this could be a very fruitful avenue to pursue – I tend to agree.
