For those of you not able to make it to the game and wanting to know the result. Goals from Charlie in the first half and Gilly in the second. Good result. Wimborne in the next round?

a good performance, especially in the 2nd half, in tricky, frosty conditions. the dolphins work rate & professionalism can't be faulted - kevin gill in particular is amazing. the amount of work he puts in is incedible, all over the pitch, competes for everything, quality pacy crosses - consistently superb.

I thought their keeper did a good job for them, particularly in the second half. His defence put him under quite a bit of pressure, but he kept the score down to only two.

Managed to make the second half. Impressed, as always, by the turn out of Poole fans - given it was such a cold midweek night.
Poole dominated the opening 20 minutes of the second half. Good through ball to Billy, convinced once he turned the defender it was in the net - good save from their keeper but Gilly was well placed to knock in the parry.
At times their defence did seem all over the place. Having read their manager say they ran close against VT (despite losing 4-1) I was a bit disappointed by Hamworthy - felt they did not really challenge Poole.
After Charlie & Micky came off (for Skelts & Smithy) then Browners for Sturgess the game seemed to lose a bit of momentum.
To be fair Poole were always in control - only seemed to remember 1 or 2 chances for Hamworthy. On to the semis - Wimborne or Dorchester?
Good to chat with M3, privileged to stand by "El Flago"!
I see the weather is getting warmer for the weekend - looking forward to leaving a game without frostbite!

Thanks once again everyone for the prompt posting of the result. It's really important for us exiles. I'm getting the impression that the Wessex Prem is teeming with brilliant goalkeepers! Every report on games seems to include the stunning saves of the opposition goalie in keeping the Dolphins score down!

i didn't think he was that good. i was impressed that he wore short sleeves given that it was -1 (so I kept being told) and the announcer kept warning us about the icy paths rather bizarrely. his kicking was dire. hamworthys team spirit was interesting - they didn't appear to like each other very much!

You're right wellsworld, his kicking was dire but he did make a couple of decent saves Not helped by some pretty poor defending at times.
