Hi every one i'm new to ths site but not new to Poole Town FC. I used to go home and away in the late 70's early 80's when the likes of Ray Ames John O'rouke Roger Bazeley Colin Guy (still can't believe he missed that sitter against Newport County in the Fa cup 1st round at home, still a fun time in the replay) etc etc played. It was really nice to come down from Yeovil to see a lot of "OLD" friends on Saturday and to see the new breed (seems strange to see them play in red and white) win convincingly could have been 8 or 9 had it not been for a really good goalkeeper. Keep up the great work and a double could well be on the cards. I look forward to my next visit to the "Farm" "UP THE TOWN"

I'm one of the 'new breed', good to see you've found the site and enjoyed your visit Saturday. I am trying to do home and away this season as a personal quest which is secondary to the quality of football I am enjoying from the present team. It is a struggle trying to get to some games but that's what makes it all the more interesting. And of course it would be cool to round the season off with promotion or a cup as a bit of added spice, although with the enjoyment I'm getting it's not vital. In the meantime I will try to get the flag over land and sea - next stop Hamworthy

Welcome theref91. Some of us go back even further than you do, to John Kirk, Horace Cumner, Stan Rickaby, Eric Bryant, Wilf Mannion ..............................................! I really hope you succeed in your quest m3 and as always you're right, "It's not vital" - OR IS IT??? See you at the VT away game.

Although i may look it i'm not that old really (45) so don't remember the list you put up. Thanks for the welcome though. For those that might have seen me on Saturday i was stood behind the goal second half (in the Chelsea beenie) and talked to the ref before the second half began. I'm sure someone will shoot me down, but i thought Mr Beament had a 6 and a half /7 game on Saturday (although he possibly loses points for his ("NON WARM UP") Thanks again and lets hope for a promotion or even a double / triple this season "UP THE TOWN"

;DOn the subject of the ref, he did make a few shockers, but hey we all make mistakes
On the plus side he was not whistle happy, which I feel spoils a game more than a few dodgy decisions

I have to say he had a fairly good game as we are good mates and colleagues!!! Felt he was let down at times by his assistants (corner goalkicks spring to mind) There are a darn site worse officials than Dave and i felt he kept the game flowing most of the time (i'm sure the assessors will pick him up on a few things though)

In the first minute Gilly was fouled inside the box and later on in the first half another player was downed, even the keeper commented on it after play went up field. Other than that I applaud him for keeping the game flowing, which was comented on by a few, and realise that refs are on a hiding to nothing.

Sorry Wellsworld, I don't know a player by that name, the only "old" Poole town player I know is Tony France, he might know the name but you would have to ask him, I think Tony played for the Twon in the late 60's early 670's but that could be wrong.

The only Eric I remember from that era wellsworld is Eric Bryant. Could it be him? I think he also had a spell with Yeovil in the SL. As I recall Eric was a good strong player in his day but prone to commit infringements and had one or two bad habits.
