I thought the stand-in goalkeeper did a good job today. I was a little concerned about his kicking off the floor and coming out to gather but that apart his performance was satisfactory.
Having said all that I hope that Jason is close to returning.

Jason should be back within the next two weeks apparently. At least we got rid of Gomez :-)

That's great news stfc! Mind you Browner can do a good job in an emergency! I know I have to say that after failing to recognise him at Swanage but I believe it's true.

Just to remind you of my earlier comments..........my concerns would be if the team we are playing put more pressure on us than New Milton were able to.............but if Jason is back then no problem

11/10/08 Laverstock & Ford League Away 4 - 0 115 S. Smith 2, S. Richardson, Sturgess
14/10/08 Lymington Town SWLC(2) Home 3 - 0 113 S. Richardson, Austin, Skelton
18/10/08 Hayling United League Home 3 - 0 243 Austin 2, OG
25/10/08 Moneyfields League Away 3 - 0 162 Austin 3
28/10/08 Swanage Town DSC(2) Away 5 - 0 86 Dibba, Gill, - 01/11/08 VT FC League Away 1 a 1 - Austin (match abandoned)
15/11/08 Bitton AFC FAV(2) Away 2 - 4 147 Walker, Austin
18/11/08 Alton Town League Away 5 - 1 106 Sturgess, S. Smith, Skelton, Bailey-Pearce, Fisk
22/11/08 Cowes Sports League Away 4 - 3 119 Dibba, Whitley, S. Smith, Austin
25/11/08 Brading Town SWLC(3) Home 3 - 0 - Austin, S.Smith, Phillips
Whilst fully appreciating the concerns squad depth / strength, let me just remind all of the above record, and point to the positives during the period in question.
We remain unbeaten.
The “Moneyfields / VT week” was built up as season defining – we destroyed Moneyfields and produced (in my humble opinion) the best 45 minutes of football so far this season in the first half at VT.
In the DSC we put 5 past Swanage without reply, whilst scoring 3 again without reply against both Lymington & Brading in the WLC.
I have no comment to make on the Bitton defeat in the vase.
I stress, I fully appreciate the points that have been raised to date - but let’s not overreact. Our goalkeepers since promotion from Wessex II (as was) have been very well protected. Whilst Jase is of course my top man and a very good keeper (hope he's back ASAP), he would be the first to admit over the first few weeks of this season, he could have watched from the box on a deckchair with a cigar on. Let alone conceding, we were not even offering up chances to the opposition.
It is credit to all that we have got through a keeping crisis, that would have had a much more damaging effect at most other clubs.
To reach December unbeaten, sitting top of the league P 16 W 15 D 1 L 0 GF 57 GA 10 is in any decent league a very good performance leading up to the run in.
Yes, there’s a long way to go – Yes, we’ve won nothing yet – No, we will not see “champagne football every week (if it takes drab 1-0 ‘s each week to get this club onwards & upwards…..bring it on).
Oh and whilst I’m on, another chest clearing. Just to throw my hat in the ring, purely forum chat…Rotate and win nothing. Tom has put together a side that, playing to form, has the measure of this league. Rotation as opposed to tweaking when necessary plays straight into the hands of VT and the other title hopefuls….why rotate for rotation sake ?
Tom, Cussy et al have been tasked with getting PTFC out of this league this year, full stop.
Sorry, but it would be so boring if we all agreed.
Keep going lads, let’s achieve this year.

A very good analysis bh12 but there are still concerns about players not getting a game and leaving the club. Also, if players continue to get injured (inevitable sometime) then strength in depth is needed and a happy squad.

Hi Brian, Agree with all you say. I was just hoping to bring a little to perspective, and positivity to what could have been a very difficult period for the club. I just felt the postings were getting a little negative and almost panic ridden, when to me (with almost a different keeper behind us each week) it was "Business as Usual" 'till we get Jase back - job done. As Supertramp once said..........."Crisis - What Crisis" Here's to a solid win over the bridge tonight.

Well said bh12, but it would be "The Crime of the Century" if we let any of the squad slip away!

I've not been too concerned about who comes and goes, based on the squad being a lot stronger than last seasons and TK's ability to attract quality players at this level. We have a good nucleus from last season with solid quality players like Jase, Luke, Taffy, Smithy etc, plus TK has brought in some real quality like Lamin, Walker, Browner, Gilly, Charlie etc to replace those that have left. I think we also have a stronger bench this season plus Poole Town are a solid club going places that would easily attract further quality from the surrounding areas. I'm totally confident.
