Thanks to Stevem for his generosity in handing over some of his old programmes. Hopefully I can pass on the gesture by posting up some exerts and rekindle old memories. 1st up is a programme for the Poole Town v Aston Villa Freindly.

Looks like an interesting team sheet. In the Villa line-up from memory. Steve Foster - ex Brighton who used to wear the head bands ? Paul Rideout - ex Southampton ? Mark Walters - who went on to Liverpool. Who's the manager at number 7 Interesting Sub in Steve McMahon.

I had the pleasure of working with the Poole #3 from the Watford game. Tom Graham is a true gent. He came down to Poole from Dundee Utd. where he was a pro, at the Town, he was basically the stadium care taker, & he earned from this & his semi pro wages than he did as a pro north of the border ! Incidently, he also is George Graham's older brother.

I remember seeing the Dolphins play the two Manchester clubs in friendlies. Pretty sure United won 5-0 with a fresh out of rompers Norman Whiteside scoring a hat-trick but even though I'm a City fan I can't remember the score of that one. Think Town may have scored a consolation goal and have a feeling Trevor Francis appeared too but it's all a bit hazy.

If anyone has any rare or old programmes, including those mentioned by DollyFinn, and wouldn't mind me taking around three photographs of each programme to share with those of us on the forum, don't hesitate to contact me. I can take the photos quickly at any home game while you have said programme in your possession. Many Thanks.

stfc, that's reminded me, One of the most dubious moments in football for me was obtaining tickets for the Euro Semi-Final. A team knocked out in the previous rounds was from the Eastern block and a contact of mine had arranged for some tickets from someone from that specific countries embassy. We arranged to meet at the petrol station in the middle of Heathrow. Sure enough bang on time a limo with D plates pulled up and a window slid down, we exchanged money and tickets and like a Mafia car it slid quietly away. What we do to watch a football match ;D

thank you stevem and m3dolphin for a great look down memory lane..talk about great defences!! John Wembridge a giant at centre half,Colin Osmond one of PTFC's greatest club players, Billy Elliott at his finest. Just a word about Dennis Pring, a fine playmaker and who scored our goal on a penalty, Dennis was not a big man and took a great deal of punishment, I believe that he had come through the Saints system and was a great asset to PTFC for Several years. To someone looking for Eric Buckley....we had an Eric Rutley one of the first "sweeper" halfbacks who in retrospect was underrated for his industrious play...mid 60s era And to Brian Penney, you must have been watching many of the same games as myself !! trick question who was John Kirks understudy?? UP THE TOWN
