Just thought i would answer some of the concerns about Saturdays.
I was at the ground from 9am till about 10am at that point the pitch was holding water up to the half way line in various areas.
to bigger area for me to folk and to much water on the pitch for the tractor to be on the pitch
i had to cancel the am football club because of water.
at this point the pitch could not be even marked.
when the ref turned up at around 10-30 11am my dad (who trained me) was present along with Dick and the pitch inspection was carried out can i say at this point the grass on the pitch is cut higher at this time of year in order to help it with stand the winter months as recovery for the grass takes longer at this time of year due to frost and wet weather and that unless you walk the pitch you will not see the water...
water was draining from the pitch but the drainage was over loaded due to the amount of rain fall as the drainage system drains the whole field and not just the pitch..
i have had to cancel Bournemouth's training tonight as a result of the water problem..
was the game called off to early that i cant answer as far as i know the decision had to be made by 11 am to stop traveling and at the point that the inspection was carried out the pitch was not playable..
the pitch for people that do not know drains into the ditch at the bottom end of the field this is also tidal and if water pushes back up the ditch from the back water of Poole then the drainage system has problems working ...
I'm sorry the game was called off but there was nothing i could have done at that time to change the situation
i will be caring out deep drainage work soon on the pitch but this is done a bit later in the year with a special machine which has to be hired in as it is used to help with the January's and Feb games
I will try and keep you all up to date over the winter months but as im sure you all know this is a very busy time of year for me.
