This is a big one. Can't make Swanage unfortunately but will be at VTFC with el flago, might do train bike combination again, a relaxing way to get to games. Nearest station is Sholing, on a stopper out of Southampton Central. Are you going sterte ?

I'd love to go to Swanage but unfortunately work calls Saturday's game is a real biggie for both sides, I have this feeling they could be one of the main teams to stand in our way.

Hoping to have a cunning plan in place for VT - drop the wife & daughter at West Quays shopping then carry on with eldest son to the footie - everyone happy!
I would expect this to be the big test for Poole (but then I thought Moneyfields would be close so clearly I have too little faith or no idea what I'm talking about!).

Does anybody know how much VT charge for admission ? Hopefully getting some work mates and their kids along, if they come be gentle as they're Geordie fans.

Sterte, I think it will be much the same as ours, 5 - 6 quid for adults. Not sure about kids though. www.wessexleague.co.uk/vtfc.htmIf you're dropping other family members off in the centre of Soton your route to VT will be over the Itchen bridge and the A3025 to Sholing. Coming from Soton central the ground is on your left. Coming from the M27 route the ground is on your right. There is loads of parking space within an enclosed field, from memory.

Thanks m3. Think my work mate will bring his lads, like the rest of us, has become disillusioned with the professional game, and wants to see real football he can afford and enjoy with his lads.

Somebody shout for me, it's unlikely that I will make it. So far behind with my work due to hospital duty, it will take the whole weekend to recover I think this is what is popularly called a "six pointer" not quite winner takes all but a massive boost none the less. Providing TK can put someone between the posts that can match the rest of the team we are more than capable of getting a result. VT a very good team by the sound of it, but then so are we.

Welcome Dorsetyellow.
Sterte, I'll be doing the train/bike combo again so if you see me cycling between Southampton Central and Sholing make sure you give me a wide berth. By the way that's my back pack making me look portly and not my belly ;D ;D

Thanks for the welcome and invite. I will at least join you behind the goal for the second half, as I did at Wimborne, Laverstock and the home game against Hayling (what a great OG, prob best I've ever seen). Nice flag m3. Is it likely to get to any England games?

Is it likely to get to any England games? Cheers. Last time i went to an England game was the Euro 96 semi final against Germany, and I spent all the game standing on the seat ;D Hate seated stadiums, IMO I think they should allow standing behind the goals, I'm sure it would boost the atmosphere. Hence why I don't go anymore although if I know someone well enough at Poole there's no reason why it couldn't get an outing to an England game. Amongst some of the best flags I've seen in my travels are at Aldershot, they have a supporter called 'Flagman' who makes them all up and organises a good display. I expect the AFCB fans would have seen them at the first away game of the season. I'm also thinking of designing an England 12' x 6' " Poole Town on tour " flag with the dolphin badge in the left corner - watch this space

I did make it but was not brave enough to stand in that rain and hid under the shelter.
M3 - I do follow England home and away, but not all games. New Wembley is much improved as the terracing is steeper and the views are good in all parts of the ground that I have sat in. I know of Flagman and my other team spent 2 seasons in the conference with Aldershot. In fact we copied his idea and have our own flagman called LongJohnSilver who turns out very reasonably priced yellow and blue flags. I have my own "Dorset Yellows" George Cross that i take to England games. Perhaps I will get a PTFC one made and take it to some England games. I will be in Berlin for the Germany v England friendly in a couple of weeks, but do not have a Dolphions flag. Would happily hang one for someone else if they want to see it on the box and spread the word.

Dorsetyellow, I used to watch England games at Wembley on a regular basis over the years, and living in North Hampshire and with Wembley within easy striking distance even went to a number of Auto windscreen finals. Much preferred Wembley with standing behind the goals and the night game atmosphere. One of those games was England v Hungary qualifier, back in the 80's, when IIRC Paul Mariner scored in the first half. England had to win to qualify, the game was all ticket yet many of us back handed the turnstile operator a tenner to get in. I'd been in Wembley with 100,000 gates before but on this night behind the goal it was way more and you were swept off your feet from side to side - cracking atmosphere. Although probably other than the England v Scotland games the euro96 semi was probably the best attacking and atmosphere game I went to, nearly every one was standing on their seats that night and I was in line with the post that Anderton and Gazza shaved in extra time ;D . Could have won that

I was at the Eng v Scotland game in 96 and missed the famous Gazza "Dentist Chair" goal as I was busy laughing at the Scotland fans after their Pen miss. I felt sure if that had gone in, they would have won the game.
