Only managed to catch the second half - in the first half I believe Gilly scored for us to cancel out a controversial Wimborne opener (player less than 10 yards from free kick clearing free).
The second half started as we had played against Frome - all out of sorts. Lots of wayward passing. Wimborne took the match to us and looked dangerous. Great save from Jason but failed to clear, then a challenge led to a penalty (too far away to be clear but looked correct decision?).
Roast blasted in the net and 2-1 to Wimborne. Finally Poole pulled themselves back in to the match. Micky had a free kick from outside the box. I was standing just to the left of the nearside post. When he crossed it I thought - what a rubbish kick going straight out. How wrong I was - curled beautifully in to the net - keeper obviously thought the same as me! You would have thought Charlie had scored from his delight as he celebrated with the fans.
After that it seemed like both teams were desperate to win. Wimborne hit the crossbar. Jack Swann had a really good chance when through but chose not to shoot - I think he just needs more confidence to have a crack at goal. In the very last minute Steve Smith got through and had the best chance of the half - but pulled wide.
Given Wimborne had won the last 5 in a row we should probably be happy with a draw. This seemed a fair result from what I saw of the match. Lost our 100% record but still unbeaten in the league.
Given our fantastic start I do have some concerns after the last 2 matches. We need to imporve our passing - finding our own players rather than giving to the opposition would help! I see Tommy is after another winger which makes sense if Trev is not going to be around. Without Billy last night it was astruggle. Luke tried hard on the right wing but he is not a natural winger.
Our defence has gone from rock solid to shaky. We need more calling as at times there seems to be little communication between keeper and defenders.
We need Charlie to score again! To be fair he played well last night and I am sure he will soon be back on the score sheet - in fact this Saturday I predict.
