Over this week I have passed by the rec each day.....The Alder road end for about 100 metres is very soft and clearly holding water. The tracks where the Circus was are still very evident. Chris will have is work cut out to make that playable for anything except "dog walking".

You'd be surprised what a decent engineer can do for drainage slepe. Worry about the game tomorrow - you are already I know!

Yeah I think the pitch will be the other end, but Chris will, I expect, be in charge of all the ground. so he will have to deal with it at some point. I'll get Marlane to buy him some new wellies, maybe fishing ones that come up the legs.

Nothing a bit of pipework wouldn't sort out, slepe. I'm a bricklayer by trade so if the odd manhole or pipework needs building I'm sure I could donate some time. I expect there will be other volunteers about the support base no doubt.

I have already been thinking about this for some time
2 things concern me that land is very low compared to the land around it and water always goes to the lowest point which can cause problems
second from what i have seen the ground has very heavy compaction
so what do we need ?
we need to lay a pitch which drains we need to break the pan that is below the surface what ever you disturber must resettle at the same rate as the ground around it. else it will become uneven if the ground becomes water logged you have to be able to move the water off the pitch or push it below the surface of you need a rootzone mix that contains both sand and loam in order to provide drainage and nutrients for the grass.....
