Parky I now have one for the FA Cup game, but we can always use two if Darrens boy wants to do it on that day as we have done so before, or just look at the fixture list and choose a game that suits him in the near future, I hope this helps mate.

How about ask the Echo to mention the mascot situation on the end of match reports ?

Just wanted to say that the mascot idea is well worth doing - my 10-year old daughter Amy saw the request for mascots in the Echo about a month ago and phoned herself and ran out in The Kit for the Christchurch game, had a really good time , everyone at the club treated her so well ,and it has now re-ignited my interest in Poole football , as someone who hasn't been since the era of Gary Manson etc but will now be a regular at Tatnam, having really enjoyed both the quality of the football and the great atmosphere and welcoming feel that is present at what is a football club that is very much on the up . Having become hugely dis-illusioned by Premiership football , after a life-time of devotion to the club that used to be Tottenham Hotspur , Poole Town has demonstrated that football can still be a great game and I shall be spreading the word that an afternoon or evening at the Tatnam is a good way to get into football at a level where the sport is still played for the right reasons.

Welcome swanagedolphin.
What an excellent read your posting makes.
I’m originally from the red half of North London, and whilst my passion for my home side remains undiminished, I understand your point entirely. Year upon year our national game at the “elite end of the market” seems to become increasingly remote from the man on the terraces (sorry, in his overpriced seat) ! I was only saying at home recently, I can definitely see an increase in the type of scenario you describe – then I turned on MOTD and saw Man’ City fans parading around with tea towels on their heads !!!!
I have a strong suspicion in order to stay competitive in the current climate, my lot will be one of the next (selling that is, not tea towels – but then again ?)
It’ll all end in tears !!
Still enough of that.
Your observations re’ PTFC are spot on.
My wife and I are now in our fourth season (some of the characters we have got to know have 30 years + under their belts) and are yet to miss a game home or away. The reason I mention this is that the forward steps taken year on year by the club over this period of time alone (both on and off the park) have been remarkable. This via extremely hard work from the board, right through to the volunteers who give up so much and effort to the cause – this club is blessed to be supported by a such dedicated people. I should not forget to mention that most important ingredient – the players. A really great bunch of lads, who we all truly look forward to seeing play each week. Win or loose, this lot ain’t gonna give up easily - that’s for sure. Grass roots football does not come much better than this. Of course there is much still to do, and many goals to achieve. But one thing is for sure – these goals will not be missed by lack of effort from anyone who truly has PTFC at heart.
Keep coming, get behind the lads and bring as many mates as you can muster !

BH12 , Is this what following Poole Town does to a man ? After 37 years of looking through my Lillywhite spectacles , I now have to agree with an Arsenal supporter?! Blimey , I must be getting soft , or middle-aged or something. Last night's latest debacle at The Lane only proves my point further - it would have cost me about 100 quid in total to have gone up there and watched that over-paid bunch of drama-queens lose (again) ,and to hear the pathetic after match quotes in Spanish from a manager whose command of the English language is matched only by his understanding of tactics, whereas at the Tatnam , for less than a tenner I could get a front row view, a match day magazine that even keeps you up to date with the local wildlife , a mug of tea , and flowing football from a winning team .You can keep your Pavlyuchenko's : If he's worth 13 Million, what price Charlie Austin ? And at least when Tommy Killick does his post-match interview , he doesn't need a translator ; well , not if you come vrom down Swanage way , moi akker.

Parky Thanks for your support, it really is appreciated, the details reqd are age, name who they support, favorite player where they live (ie Poole) who they play for if anyone, these details are more for Bill and Ian for the programme notes and need to be with them at least 3days before fixture, so I will see you Sat but feel free to give said details direct to them Darren's lad needs to be at ground by 1900hrs (1930 ko) and ask for me or Steve. Swanagedolphin How kind of you to make such comments on the web site, Amy was a star and would be more than welcome to do another fixture at your convenience later in the season, to have gained another supporter is exactly what this scheme is about, but also to give the mascot a day to remember, we seem to have got 2 out of 2 with you. Thanks again for yours and Amy's support.

Idea; Howsabout hold a competition in the Echo, or/and involve local radio. Local kids are asked the nickname of Poole Town FC - the first picked out correct answer can then be a mascot, and can have their class mates along to the game free, as long as each child is accompanied by an adult.
OK this is giving out a freebie to the mascot but while all his/her mates are present promote the mascot idea. I'm sure at the prices offered there will be no shortage of takers, plus it gets the club good coverage plus bring in more possible fans.

Another way to advertise the mascots is to send out a flyer or poster to the local school's. With a letter asking them if they would mind putting them up or handing them out to the parents, or even if they have a school newsletter, if they would put a mention in it.
