I have spoken to a lot of people today, regarding the England match last night. Most of which were outraged that they couldn't watch their national side. They are adamant that they will not further subscribe in order to watch the England matches. What does the forum think?

there is talk of getting Setanta in the bar or maybe even sky sports. How many people would be interested if this facility was put into the bar? or should that be, how many people would come and watch the matches if they are available in the bar? It does of course, depend on how expensive to the club it would be as well.

;DI had no probs finding it on the many channels showing it round Europe, the joys of a motorised dish, however I still didn't bother watching cookiemonster, that will probably cost the club a small fortune in subs due to the public nature of the broadcast, $hy never miss a trick to shaft the public

I was only thinking about the moral issue, the FA screwing the supporters for every penny. Selling the rights to the highest bidder, average supporter can't afford to watch their national team. Not good

Not good Agreed slepe. I remember when games were on testical TV. I'm no great lover of International football but there is no way the FA should be allowed to sell these games to the highest bidder. Basically it boils down to greed, the FA and $hy make great bedfellows cookiemonster, just a suggestion but I would say the best bet is a nice tv with a built in Freeview receiver to whack on Sky Sports News for the League results etc after games. No need to get involved in subscriptions etc. Tho I am presuming that the bar is only open on matchdays?

The FA has killed the professional game for the working person. I was a lifelong Plymouth Argyle fan, but finally had enough of the board pocketing 000000s whilst taking the average fan for 100s and more. We cancelled Sky, as I cannot bear putting even more money in the fat cats pockets. As for Sentata, have you tried to watch their Sports News? Not recommended for the squeamish. Up The Dolphins

$hy subs are apparently based on the bar takings, so if you really fancy them delving into the books.................................

Hear hear sterteroad! I share your opinion of 'fat cats'. There is indeed a moral issue slepe and m3 but basically what it all boils down to is - as stfcinbmth says - 'greed'! That's what is killing the game for the average fan. Did you know Michael Foote was a lifelong Argyle fan sterteroad?

Update
I was given the wrong info, so here's the updated version
Its not done by takings its done by the rateable value of the premises sly used to have a chart on their business site with different groups
Just as an example
Rateable value £220,000 sub was £2,673 a month (excluding VAT)

I wonder what the RV of PTFC social club is? Whatever it is, let's stick to freeview and leave $ky and $etanta alone!

we do already have free view in the bar and the bar is open on other day's but does change on a weekly basis, depending on what matches are played. The girls are there most Sunday's, as they are opening for other teams which come under the Poole Town umbrella, and have the pipes to clean and the floor to mop as well !!
