Poole 6 Newport 2 By the way, thanks m3 for remembering that I was away when we played Willand and posting my forecast again for that game. It was much appreciated even though I was a bit too optimistic - again.

I'll go for 2-0 to Poole as well. Rob Bayston has been in contact with me and is going for a 1-0 win to Poole.
Cheers,
Steve

Interesting to see that on Newport’s website they refer to our prediction league seemingly as a source of extra motivation to gee their lads up even further. It crossed my mind the other day that if I was an opposition manager, I’d pin all these heavy score predictions up all over my teams dressing room - crank them right up ! Still, we’re there to be shot at by sheer nature of currently being top dogs – bring it on, but be ready for that extra 10% teams find when playing the mighty dolphins. Front foot from the first second.

Understand what you're saying BH12, to be fair I partly base my predictions on scores at this level being so eratic , half the time it's a stab in the dark. Taking a closer look at Newport's results they had a dire first game at Brock, losing 6-1, but have since tightened up. Something I didn't notice, and any team that can go to Cowes, who I feel looked a solid side in the two games I saw at Tatnam last season, and draw 1-1 deserves a bit more respect. I've now amended my score to suit their recent form. ;D

Please carry on m3dolphin, the last thing I want to be is a killjoy. The predictions are always a fun read.
Just thought my post might be of small interest, in that the prediction league is gaining some notoriety.
In fact, put me down for 10 – 0 to PTFC …only joking Newport !!!

Having seen the reference on our Newport website, I'd been having similar thoughts about this issue. I suspect, however, that most football folk would understand that supporters are unlikely to predict against their team and may even include an element of wishful thinking in their forecasts of large winning margins? It's not normally born of arrogance, complacency or disrespect for the opponents - rather its expressing confidence in their own players (which is one aspect of being a supporter). Even if we were bottom of the table, I'm not sure I would be predicting defeats week in week out, even if I knew that was likely to happen.
I'd also read the article on Newport's website as being written with tongue slightly in cheek - from what I've seen of their website and forum, and a couple of personal exchanges with their officials in the past, I think they are unlikely to have taken great umbrage!
For what it's worth, I think it will be another tight game on Saturday, and I'll be happy with a win of any sort.

No probs BH12 I get my enjoyment out of watching Poole win, last thing I want to do is 'pump' another team up to try harder. Besides I want to progress in the prediction league and I might yet have to thank you for alerting me to Newport's recent form ;D While on the subject; I remember Downton last season were getting thrashed all over the place. When they came to us a cricket score would have been expected but they did try visibly harder to raise their game and I think they kept it down to 4-0.

You have apoint bh12, no doubt about it! Maybe we should all start predicting draws or defeats for the Dolphins thereby making the opposition think they're on to a soft option. On second thoughts I don't think it would work. Our opponents won't take my predictions seriously anyway but perhaps all our forecasts do help to keep the Town lads on their toes before each game eh?

Hi Guys,
All I was hoping to do was draw the attention of those who took part in the prediction league, to the fact that it had got a mention eleswhere - absolutley no offence intended.
I then simply chucked in a personal slant not aimed solely at the Newport game, but a general point on which I had a viewpoint. I as much as all of us hope we win any given game by a bigger margin as possible, it makes or breaks my week (I tell you though, I’d take 1-0 every time !). Being insanely competitive, it was just my personal slant on what would be my management style. I would use every possible “gee up” I could to get whatever I could from any game.
Still, enough of that……....let’s hope the ferry travels !
And if any of the players do read these posts, come on lads keep it going – we’re right behind you.

No offence taken bh12. It never occured to me. It makes a big difference to my week as well. I want (hope) to live long enough to see 'The Town' back where it belongs so any win will do! Maybe the management should give the boys a selection of what we say about scores just before they go out!

If the worst happens, what about the predictions?
Are they null and void. To be re-done when the re-arranged fixture is played?
