Another fine win for Poole Town. Went 1-0 down after 3 minutes but gradually worked hard and got back into the game. Brilliant strike from Stu Brown on 28 mins and Charlie Austin header on 44 minutes secured win. Could have been a load more Poole goals - hit woodwork 3 times. Comfortable win- now face Merthyr Tydfil (Southern Premier) at Tatnam in 2 weeks time - 1st Qualifying Round.
Full report tomorrow.

;DThanks for the report Steve, I caught the result on the 5Live website, national coverage now.
I imagine the game was better than hedge cutting
Did we have a big crowd?
Merthyr Tydfil will be a good test
Although I was a bit miffed to miss the game, this was slightly tempered by the awesome sight of the Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane passing right over our house, they sound just superb. Another occasion(and there really aren't many) when I am proud to be British
How priveledged must those guys feel to fly one of those beautiful machines
Just Fantastic
Sorry it's slightly off topic but I needed to pass it on

I was at the game today and thoroughly enjoyed it,if i remember correctly there was about 226 people there,i think. 1-0 down early on but we were the better team i thought and fought back brilliantly, they were a good team though, and if im honest i do worry about Taffy, has he still got it against the better teams,im not so sure,he gave the ball away abit and lacked abit of pace when it was needed, and the booking he got, which i think he deserved was just stupid.I dont know why he wasnt subbed in the second half, give someone else a go in there, sorry if people think im wrong and he was a great player in his time at this level but,i think this is the best Poole team ive seen for along time, and maybe just maybe time is catching up,just my opinion. I also thought from where i was stood, which was nearby, that the stamp was a stamp and unnessasary, and could of got him sent off, then where would we have been, also i wasnt happy with how he spoke to the linesman, theres no need for all this swearing at refs and their assistants, but he`s not the only one is he. Roll on the next round, cant wait.
COME ON POOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Wenbley here we come!!

A very entertaining game again. Bit of a shock to see Poole go 1 down so quickly. For the first 15 minutes they seemed a completely different team to the one that played the Poppies 5 days ago - many loose passes. However they finally started to pull themselves round - great strike by Browners. They kept fighting & deservedly got the second. Also the ref failed to give a definite penalty (but more of him later). The sending off a Willand player seemed to suggest we would have an easy second half but we did not seem to make the extra player count for much of the time. That said we had a genuine goal disallowed (anyone know why it was not given?), hit the post and had 1 cleared off the line (so my 5 goals could easily have come true).
I thought Willand Rovers were a decent team and challenged hard and could easily have scored some more. Credit to Harvell for some excellent goalkeeping. My man of the match was Austin. I must agree with poolelaglandst - Taffy was quite poor today - a number of very poor passes (although I thought he has been pretty solid in the other games I have seen this season).
As for the ref. I am not keen to slag them off as no-one is perfect and errors can easily be made. However this ref was appalling - he tried to kill the match by not letting it flow and made numerous poor decisions (mainly against us). I think we picked up 3 yellows - I can't remember us getting 1 in the games I have seen this season. I know Slepe likes to mark the refs - so I will be generous and give him 0 out of 10!
Good crowd again and great support - fantastic win - looking forward to Merthyr in a fortnight.

Fantastic result lads, well done!
We lost 3-1 today, terrible performance and a £50 day out!
Me and a few of the other AFCB lads will try and make the game if you get Merthyr to a replay!
Good luck.

Merthyr Tydfil won 4-1 away yesterday against Oxford city and now are 16th in the league. Improving all the tome.
Their website reports that the Supporters Club raised £1,000 in a week after being formed recently.

Great win. It demonstrated our ability to come back from an early setback, they worked hard and played for each other during those early minutes and I'm glad to say it paid off. This game said more to me than the big win on Tuesday, gave me more confidence that we can actually achieve what we desire most of all this season. Against opposition that were well organised and clearly out to spoil the party..........but they didn't did they ;D
Now about the ref, well I have to agree he didn't have a good game and stopped the natural flow of things repeatedly. peter I thought your score of 0 was a little generous. How about -3?
Moving on cautiously to the comments regarding Taffy's performance. He as had a busy time, with two games per week since the start of the season. He would benefit from a rest, I feel he knows when he is going to struggle with his fitness and this makes him frustrated, this then tends to be demonstrated by his lack of tolerance of the officials and anyone else who has the temerity to get in the way. I would not start with him on Tuesday..........but I wouldn't volunteer to tell him. But the team needs to come first.......so let's hope TK can leave his friend out when he thinks he should.

Thanks Steve for the Report on the Main page. The link to Willand Rovers site gives a very fair match report. Their report remarks that the pitch was 'superb'!

There's not a lot more to add to some of the comments I've read already other than, they say the league table never lies, I can't say that's true of the two clubs we faced from the same league in the cup. Willand surprised me yesterday and for the first 15 minutes looked by far the better side than our last cup opponents, Welton. Willand, in the first 15 minutes reminded me more of AFC Totton last season in that they were very vocal to each other and worked hard at closing us down, they looked a big side and were quite physical, which in it's way paid off with putting us on the back foot and scoring an early goal. In Taff's defence we only got on top of them when we started to 'mix it' back with them, something we lacked at say Bemerton away last season.
It was a great team performance and I was glad to get the monkey of our back of not conceding, I feel it now takes an unneeded pressure of us. The more I see of Stuart Brown the more I like the player - How poised and composed is he when hitting the ball, his shape on the 'strike' is natural and very good at this level. It was good to see Trefor get some minutes on the pitch aswell, he's one of my favourite players with his jinking runs although he seems to lack self belief when it comes to shooting, maybe spend some time with Browner and learn how to confidently strike a ball without worrying where the ball ends up, he seems to avoid the shot by taking on one player too many at times. Gilly's never say die attitude was again present and Micky Hubbards shooting from distance is as good as ever. OK I spent two hours in sweltering traffic yesterday as all of the UK tried to head for the coast but what a reward at the end of it. Well Done again lads!! Can we progress further ? ..... Believe!

Thanks lads, an interesting discussion for anyone living away. I'm actually beginning to learn the names of the PTFC players and who plays where and how well so thanks again. As for the debate about the older player I don't mind a bit of 'rough and tumble' but I don't like players who wilfully hurt opponents or show disrespect to the referee no matter how bad he, the ref, is. The league should sort out the referees through the scoring and assessment system. I get the impression that people are coming round to the idea that Taffy should be used in shorter spells as and when his particular qualities are required. I used to be a ref by the way in the North Lancashire League and a local Sunday Youth League! Believe it or not I was quite good at it too! Players at that level are often grateful to have any referee though! Meanwhile, of course we can go further - like Chasetown or Havant!

Excellent photos Brian, I think these are the 'Willand WAGS' being terrorised by Taffy's tackle ;D ;D ;D
