If we can get past Willand Rovers in the next round of the FA Cup our next opponents will be Merthyr Tydfil from the Southern League Premier. Merthyr followed on from last Saturdays 1-4 home defeat with a 4-0 reversal at Yate Town last night.
Newly promoted AFC Totton trounced Thatcham Town away last night 5-0. Their new striker, James Taylor, signed from Conference South Basingstoke Town came up with his second hat trick in 4 days.

Well spotted, that's Rico off the mark with 1 in 2, setting off a good average for a Centre Half.

I can remeber when Merthyr Tydfil were in the old Southern League when there was no Conference North, South or anywhere else and so were Poole Town. Good to see those days are on the way back.

Good to see it bring back memories Brian. Next weeks FA cup opponents, Willand Rovers lost away to Calne Town 4-1. Meanwhile Merthyr lost away at Cambridge City 3-0, Cambridge were relegated from the Connie South due to Ground Grading requirements. Elsewhere AFC Totton's great start came to an abrupt halt with a 2-0 reversal at Beaconsfield SYCOB, who were promoted from a parallel league. Bashley continue their awful start to the season, losing at home to Halesowen Town 3-0.

Thanks m3. Every chance then - once we've beaten Willand.

Culli went to Gosport not Bashley. Thanks mcnab , no wonder I couldn't find him in their team ;D Gosport won 5-0 against Hartley Wintney in the Cup with Culli in the side. Last seasons Wessex Premier whipping boys, Downton, who were relegated to WL1 won 2-1 at Wessex Premier side New Milton in the FA Cup. Merthyr Tydfill, our next opponents in the FA Cup, won away at Oxford City 4-1, and have now scored 8 goals in the last two games as they have appeared to have found their feet after a shakey start to the season.

Thanks m3. So it won't be easy on Saturday then but we know that TK and the team won't be complacent or take any opponents for granted.

For you distant supporters that read this thread; The game at Wimborne on the 27th...I doubt if the lads will need 'firing up' for this game but I'm hoping to have a bit of a surprise for TK, SC and the team at Wimborne on the 27th, as a contribution from the support. I've been working on the design and It's being made now as we speak. Wimborne will definitely know we've arrived and it will dwarf anything they have to offer in the way of colourful backing. ;D I will post a few pics of said backing once it arrives from oop North where it's been professionally made.

Wallsall won 1-0 away at Brighton yesterday, no mean feat, till you realise Wallsall played with 9 men after having two paleyers sent off in the First Half.

Third round qualifying has just been drawn. Kingstonian have drawn a local derby with the winners of Hayes & Yeading or Staines Town. AFC Totton play another Hants side, Andy Sinton's, Fleet Town, and Frome Town play Team Bath at home. www.thefa.com/TheFACup/TheFACup/Fixtures/

Think Frome will struggle against Team Bath, lot of young players(bath uni students) there. But good luck to them.

They can't be just students can they? Unless any student who is any good applies to Bath University so they get all the decent student players. Is that how it works?

I think Bath University has established itself as a good place for players dropping out of Professional football (at various ages) to get a further education, whilst getting the opportunity to play football at a decent standard.
Hence the epithet "Team Taxpayer" that is often aimed at them, as it could be argued that they are one of the best funded teams in non-league football, at least in terms of certainty of backing, and paid backroom support, if not in terms of the actual cash paid to players.
They won't be taking many supporters to Frome (the Bath University students only turned out in any numbers when they were live on the BBC a few seasons ago), and I certainly believe and hope that Frome can turn them over.

To complete the circle, Frome Town lost their first game of the season last night, 3-0 at Welton Rovers, the team we won against in our first FA Cup tie.
