I would say it is. It's a good chance to earn a few pounds by progressing, it will allow TK the opportunity to try other formations and players using the squad. A "good" cup run will generate a lot of interest from the town and may inspire the odd few to make it a regular thing. It may well inspire a would be sponsor into a generous donation. So all in all it may be a lesser priority than the league but not to be forgotten. ;D

Welton Rovers are a very useful Western League side although they have lost a few players (and the Manager) since last season. The money for winning each tie is certainly useful and should Poole get through this week, I think they would have an excellent chance of advancing against Willand Rovers

Its a good question and makes for an interesting debate. To most hard core fans like ourselves I would imagine promotion would be first on the list of many. The reality is we could never win the FA Cup from our level, but, we could have every chance from what I've seen of different levels of Non league football, and with some self belief and luck of the draw, of maybe making the first round proper. I believe it's not beyond our management team and players. Such a run would provide us with prize money alone in the region of 35-40 k, plus gate revenue. The main positive would be the amount of coverage and 'Feel good Factor' this would bring to the town, which in turn would help bring in more support and sponsorship, not only for the club but for the much needed Branksome Rec project. Nothing captures the imagination like the FA Cup and even the Vase would only bring those extra added benefits if we made it all the way to Wembley. Let's imagine; 7 games to the first round, 5 home draws (after the Welton game ) featuring big gates v Salisbury City and AFC Wimbledon with a first round proper sell out v AFCB at Dean Court. Could we do it ? ;D It sounds far fetched but think Havant & Waterlooville beating the League1 Champions and then leading Liverpool twice at Anfield.

It's a wonderful notion m3 but more of adam than a possibility. Money is a gerat help and so is publicity but I just hope that neither the FAC or the Vase deflect the team from the main purpose - promotion.

Surely we should approach every game as one we want to win - whether it is the league or either cup competition.
Clearly we have to be realistic about expectations but a good cup run does provide a feel good factor. We have enough quality in depth in the squad to allow some other players a run out and still be able to put up a good fight.

I totally agree with Peterlep. After a number of years in the footballing wilderness, the club has over the past few seasons shown great signs of recovery – both on and off the park. It is vitally important to now land a trophy and keep that forward momentum going. Of course the league is top priority, but if we land say the Wessex League Cup, or the Dorset Senior Cup so be it. I’m sure this is the view held within the club, judging by last season’s complete & utter dejection at the Semi Final defeat in the DSC. Success is success, in whatever format. Also, the knock on effects derived through landing a trophy of any nature are obvious (crowd size, players, revenue etc). I had a chat with one of the management hierarchy at the presentation evening of 2 years ago. The winning mentality was obvious; PTFC must put a pot on the table as soon as possible. It’s coming, the whole club seems to be on the front foot at present. In my humble opinion fielding weakened / experimental sides in selected competitions is not the way forward. I’m sure all will work extremely hard to achieve what we all crave – PTFC colours tied around a trophy (any trophy) come seasons end.
In Tom we trust !
(Didn’t that legend in his own mind José Mourinho start with the League (Carling) Cup !)

I think its great to be in the FA Cup,no matter what level we at,getting to the first round proper should be like a premiership team getting to Wembley.
As for all the local cups and winning one of them, thats why we should have a reserve team, then we`d have a big squad playing football week in week out, surely we could enter the Dorset Premier like Hamworthy United do.

Realistically we wont we promoted anyway this season because of the ground so a good cup run/win would help us keep the current squad of players and attract new ones.
Reaching the 1st qualifier in the FA cup vs Merthyr would be a good achievement. We're not in the vase till November so a good run could be on the cards.
In the league cup we've been drawn at home to Lymington in the 2nd round so that looks like a good chance to progress in that competition.
