That's two difficult games out of the way. I thought Brock looked a very good side but the fact we were able to get three points in a game we would have probably lost or drawn last season is a big bonus. Good to see TK take the initiative and change things at half time with an inspired substitution, also Charlie Austin claiming his first goal. With no disrespect to other teams in the league it would be good to now see us improve and polish up our game against a lesser side. Really enjoyed last night and even the weather couldn't put a dampner on things. Crowd looked good too. Roll on Saturday!!

Quite so m3! Brockenhurst scored 6 on Saturday so it must be a good sign to restrict their forwards. The Dolphns have just the chance you want to 'polish up' next time out against Welton Rovers.

Not sure Welton will be easy opposition Brian, talking to others last night they could provide another hard game, we might have to wait another game or two to 'polish up'. One thing that's more apparent this season are the more experienced heads at the back in Lamin Dibba and Simon Browne. We might miss Rico's goals but we also might offset that with the experience of Browne and Dibba helping us to concede less.

I thought that Poole put on another good display last night. Many of the comments v Fareham were true again. Very solid at the back, strong in midfield but lack of cutting edge up front.
Brock were definitely stronger opposition and I would expect them to be in the top 6.
Again Poole could, and should, have scored more. Substituting Stuart Brown for Leigh Phillips at half time made a noticeable difference straight away.
I think Poole are looking god, but to become great they need to improve the following:
Stop Harvell sprinting 30-40 yards out when he does not need to - we will pay the price at some point Keep more possession - many careless passes last night gave good spells of the ball to Brock Move the ball out quicker More support at the front, often when we broke there was no-one to cross to
I don't want this to be seen as negative - as I thought last night was a good performance - I just believe we can do even better
The crowd attendance was very good for mid week - 20 more than Saturday
Thanks also to Parky - for spending part of his half time updating me on some of the history of Poole Town FC - much appreciated

I accept what you say m3 and I agree a confidence booster ahgainst a lower ranked Wessex League side would be good just now but my thinking was that provided it isn't in any way disastrous - which I'm sure it won't be - the result against Welton matters less than getting the team sorted. I think the FA Cup should be quite low in our list of priorities, an opportunity to be bold and try things out perhaps. I'm sure you'd agree that the league is number 1 priority, then the Vase. All other games icluding local cup ties should offer chances to experiment, give games to what slepe rightly calls 'fringe players' and build confidence.

The FA Cup can be lucrative for a club at our level, the prizes being:
Extra Preliminary Round winners - £750 Preliminary Round winners - £1,500 First Round Qualifying winners - £3,000 Second Round Qualifying winners - £4,500 Third Round Qualifying winners - £7,500 Fourth Round Qualifying winners - £12,500
Welton finished 9th in the Western League last season, with the best defensive record (better than Truro's), and have won their two games as well. It looks like a tough game.

another fine win last night, never looked in real trouble of conceding, the back four look totally solid and strong with experience, lamin is the best centre half in the league, luke partners him very well simon browne has played a very good standard of football for years and didnt know till last night that carl poore played over 100 games for dorchester in the conference south and the southern premier so he's got experience too! we may be lacking fire power but its only the 2nd game and 6 points on the board,i'd take that against 2 tema that will be in the mix

Thanks guys for the reports.........especially when it's good news. Never expected a big score last night, I expect the weather conditions played a big part and probably ruined the passing game that TK seems to be bringing to the club. Really upset not being able to attend last night. Two difficult teams and two teams that usually do well against us. We will have to get used to teams coming to Tatnam and closing things down..........that makes the taking of chances even more essential, winning home games is vital.

Another positive to take from the two games, taking into account the foul weather conditions and AFCB playing at home on both days, the attendance for both home games was 326 total, that's nearly 100 up on the first two home games last season and a considerable percentage rise. Nice one!!

I think it was Slepe that mentioned about the crowd. I am only in my second season supporting but there dores seem more atmosphere and vocal support this season. As I have said before - lets make the crowd the 12th player and turn our ground in to Fortress Tatnam.

It's my second season as well. ;D Totally agree with what you say, both about the crowd and your brief report on the game. There were times when our wing play was too quick for the forwards but I expect Browner might get the nod to start tomorrow.
