To coin a phrase
it’s a New Era Sounds like an excellent win for the lads A shut out for our new goalie And a huge smile of relief from Matt Tubbs
will the future be red and white? you bet!
Goodnight from Edmonton International Airport!

A very good performance against a very strong side, and I have to say the second goal was one of the best goals I've seen in many a year.

Agreed, the work down the left hand side for the 2nd goal was right in front of me and was excellent. Also a word for the front two, who I thought were outstanding. We were 4-4-2 in possession and 4-5-1 out of it with one of them (usually Tony) getting into left midfield as quick as he could to fill the space. It was tiring stuff and they were both shattered but it laid the foundation for the win, them both getting a goal topped it off.

Where has Luke Cairney gone? What an amazing evening at The Tatnum last night. A game full of passion, not short on skill and a desire that has been missing for a long time. An expectant midweek crowd of over 500 came to see what the New Era had in store and they weren’t disappointed. What will stay with me was the togetherness, the effort and the amazing atmosphere in the ground. Having said all that my lasting memory from last night will be how many fans stayed to applaud the team off and how they responded so enthusiastically. The players all hugged Chris Reeves who was grinning from ear to ear, how he deserved that!! It might be just the first home game but most of those 534 will certainly be back.

This makes for really enjoyable reading after the recent incidents. How did the defence do (beyond not conceding)?

Agreed about people staying behind, I stayed last night to applaud the players off (I normally shoot off immediately the whistle blows) as I could see the shift they had put in, it was well deserved.
DollyFinn, the defence were fairly sound. Wright had an excellent game and Whisk was just Whisk alongside him. The defending was happening from the front for a lot of the game and Gosport resorted to lumping the ball long which was food and drink to the pair of them. Rose and Hutch were good too, the hand Hutch had in the 2nd goal was brilliant, he was getting forward so well in the second half.

I think on Saturday we will probably have to manage without both Max Evans & Billy Lowes as they may be cup tied. Having probably played for Frome Town & Bashley, respectively, in this season's FA Cup. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Really thrilled with all the comments about the match against Gosport but I'd still like to know what has happened to Luke Cairney.

Max Evans is NOT cup tied as he was a free agent on his release from Yeovil and has not played for anyone so far this season.
Billy Lowes IS cup tied having played for Bashley in their defeat to Mousehole.
Luke Cairney is yet to sign for anyone though I’m sure it won’t be long as I’m sure there will be a fair bit of interest.

Nice to see the forum being used as a forum and not just for prediction league. Yep, for some of us exiles this is the best (and only) way to get views on players and performances.

I was one of the ones that stayed behind to applaud at the end too, instead of dashing for the exit.
In case anyone has missed it here is Gosport's video highlights, which show good work for the second goal:
