I read an arrival about Alliance Medical winning an NHS contract for Cancer Screening. They won against the current NHS provision in the North West by bidding £7 million more. Yes more than the NHS did for the same work. We cannot be told the details of the bid because, as a private company, Alliance's bid is covered by commercial confidentiality. So every taxpayer is contributing to that £7 million. Is that profit? We do not know. If you pay tax, 30p of you money is going on this one contract. Imagine how much of our money is being wasted on privatising parts of the NHS. Sign my petition on the Number 10 website. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/121655

Many thanks John, I've signed. I, like thousands of others, have many reasons to be grateful to the NHS. If we want to keep a free and accessible health service we're going to have to fight for it! Alliance Medical is far from being the only private company taking over work previously done by the NHS (Virgin is another, for example). The NHS will be run down to the point where it can no longer cope and people are desperate. At that point full scale privatisation will take place. Unless we are prepared to fight for it to remain free and ours! After the junior doctors? Consultants? Paramedics? Nurses? Who will be next?
