Good luck to all the young lads today in your game V Brock.
I know it will be a very hard game but i also know that you lads are good enough to cope.
This is a very exciting time for Poole Town, YES, the reserves are young but i can tell you they play some brilliant football and there was not one player against Corfe Mullen that chickened out of any tackle, in fact i think that we were the more aggressive.
This will be a good season for the reserves, so if you do not go to watch the 1st team, come on down and watch the reserves, they will be greatful of your support and you will be surprised.

Brockinghurst 2 Poole Town Res 2
Brockenhurst took the lead from the penalty sot in the twentieth minute when young leigh mitchener failed to clear the ball from a free kick, steve Kirk(42) attempted to clear the danger brought the striker to ground.
5 minutes later saw jay rose run onto a superb pass to lobb the keeper from twenty yards....a great all round performance by the senior player.
Second half saw brockenhurst become very physical and committed numerous tackles from behind that went unpunished by the referee...Dave Sturgess became a victim of many late and wild challenges as he continued to make a mockery of the brock midfield, who could cope with his technique and skillful play, this tactic of brock continued throught the half when the brought down young Alvin Gunputh twice in the penalty spot which the referee turned a down the apeals........the 40th minute Marc Jackson slammed home to make it 2-1 to PTFC from a corner.
Then came the most bizarre incident of the day when the poole defence had pushed right up to the half way line leaving a brock player some 10 yards offside, when the ball was humped towards the PTFC goal the linesman flagged for the offside but the referee shouted play on, Lee Mitchener then had to make a challenge for ball, which was resulted in the referee awarding a second penalty to brock in the dying seconds.
When the referee was asked why he had not given the penalty he said the linesman had not flagged so he played on.
Today saw yet the youngest PTFC side fielded in what to be the hardest preseason friendly, Kevin Jackson was delighted with the younger players, however he has singled out Jay Rose.
Jay worked very hard, he is regaining his fitness, again scoring a second quality 20 yard chip in a week. I feel jay is only a couple of games from the knocking on tommy's 1st team door, he talks all the time, he has good distribution, and helps the younger players.
Also Steve Kirk who travelled 65 miles to answer the call from KJ Steve is 42 years young and this is his second game in 5 years.....I was struggling for a central defender with experience so i rang steve to see if he fancied a game he jumped at the opportunity.....Steve played for me when i was manager in the Great Mills Western League and the Hellenic league,. he's a good talker. My concern is now he's got the bug and wants to play again. oh dear'....
