At school Iam doing a subject called peiod X. Everybody has to write about a topic of there choice so Iam doing it on Poole Town. Then my teacher said some of it has to be about a debate.
Somewhere I read that the new Bearwood Stadium is only going to have 150 seats.
If this is true I have one question to start a debate "If Poole want to have a good future and get more people wathcing them. Is only 150 seats going to bring more people watching the club and give Poole a brighter future."
Please respond and start some sort of a debate.
Many Thanks Ash ;D

Well done Ash. The short answer to your debate question is "yes and no." YES, a new ground will almost certainly get more people interested and watching the Town but NO a new ground with only 150 seats in the stand won't provide for a brighter future. As I understand it, Football Association Ground Grading requirements specify 500 seats for The Conference leagues at the top of the non-league pyramid and 250 for the Southern Premier League and its equivalent divisions in the Northern Prem and Ryman Prem leagues. Thus, a ground with seating accommodation for only 150 couldn't possibly provide even for one promotion for Poole. No promotion prospects would hardly "give poole a brighter future"! Also, covered accommodation for 500 (including the stand) would be needed along with all the other requirements concerning pitch size, boundary walls and/or fencing, floodlighting, clubhouse and so on. So, when the finance is in place and that's a big obstacle too, the first thing that will have to be done is to make sure that the new ground fulfills the requirements for promotions including increasing the seats from 150 to enough for the Southern Premier league and then the Conference. I got the information on F A ground grading from homepage.ntlworld.com/christopher.rooney1973/grading.htmI hope it's up-to-date because if so it's a very good summary. Good luck with the project and the debate. I trust that your teacher will become an avid PTFC fan along with you and your classmates.

The only thing really missing from the chart Brian is the need to have development on at least two sides of the ground. This means a stand or terrace in addition to the main stand,
The issues surrounding ground grading are many and one of the more important ones are the grants available. At each level, new grants become available BUT any grant is on the condition that the work has not been completed. So at each step you should do the amount of work needed and little more as you may lose out financially.
Peter, I have sent you a PM with some more info.

I don't think many people are visiting the 'Off Topic' section Ash. If you need some more contributions maybe you could try a reminder on another thread. Please let us know how you get on at school with your project.
