Some of you may be aware, but my actual first love is cricket and besides umpiring for Broadstone CC, Mandy and I are both members of Dorset County Cricket Club. This season finished on a high because the team one the 'Minor Counties' championship after winning both the 'western' league and then winning the final itself on Wednesday which was held at Dean Park.

Hello Brian, no promotion in the Minor counties cricket.

There are two divisions each consisting of 10 'Minor Counties' as follows:

Eastern Division

Western Division

So basically each year the winners of each division play in a final at the end of the season. So because Dorset won the Western division they played Lincolnshire who were the winners of the Eastern division. Incidently this is only the 2nd time Dorset has won the championship since 1850!!!
